Mike White to Produce a New HBO Comedy from 'Girls' and 'Klovn' Writers

It's been eight months since HBO canceled writer/director Mike White's critically-acclaimed series Enlightened, but White is already getting back into business with the network. HBO is developing a new comedy series called Mr. Romance that White will executive produce, THR reports. The potential show will be co-written by Murray Miller (Girls, American Dad) and Casper Christensen (Klovn). Mr. Romance is based on Joshua Bearman's 2010 McSweeney's article, "The Only Muscle I Can't Control: In Search of the Next Romance Novel Cover Man." Danny McBride and Todd Phillips Are Set to Remake the Twisted Danish Comedy Klovn

Danny McBride and Todd Phillips have just signed on to remake the popular Danish comedy Klovn (Clown in English). Klovn, which grossed over $12 million in the Scandinavian box office, was based on the TV show of the same name by Danish comedians Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam, who will be producers on the remake. Laura Turner Garrison took an in-depth look at the Danish comedy scene, including Klovn, in December. Here's what she had to say about the film:

Danish Comedy Series 'Klown' Is Coming to Hulu July 16th

Hulu has acquired the US rights to the hit Danish sitcom Klown (or as it's called in whatever country Danish people live, Klovn), and they'll be releasing the whole thing on the streaming service next week. A Curb Your Enthusiasm-inspired series created by and starring Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam, Klovn follows a comedian who often gets himself in uncomfortable situations. Sacha Baron Cohen Hires the 'Klown' Writers to Script His Next Movie

Denmark's finest comedians are taking the reins of Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie. Variety reports that Baron Cohen has hired Danish duo Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam, who wrote and starred in the cult hit comedy Klown (or Klovn in Denmark) and the TV series of the same name upon which the movie was based, to write his upcoming film The Lesbian. Announced last year, The Lesbian is a starring vehicle for Baron Cohen based on Hong Kong billionaire Cecil Chao, who offered $64 million to any man who could convince his lesbian daughter to marry him so she wouldn't marry her longtime girlfriend.
