Fifty Shades of Grey is getting the Wayans spin. According to Variety, Marlon Wayans has signed on to write, produce, and star in a Fifty Shades spoof called Fifty Shades of Black, which will be co-written by Rick Alvarez and directed by Michael Tiddes, who also directed parody films A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2. Said Wayans on the news: "Sex and comedy go hand-in-hand and I’m looking forward to having fun with this project. It’s amazing when a film of this caliber comes along begging to be made fun of. I’m really happy to be doing what I love with people I love to do [...]

Marlon Wayans Is Launching His Own Funny Or Die-Esque Video Site

Marlon Wayans is following Will Ferrell's lead. The comedian announced to THR this morning that he's launching Whatthefunny.com, a video site modeled after Ferrell's Funny or Die. Wayans even has FOD founder Randy Adams as COO. The site is live now, but won't be officially launching until late 2013/early 2014. Wayans and Adams hope to produce several 5 to 10-minute shorts before the launch.

Wayans calls WhattheFunny a "playground for my family and for all comedians who have something funny they want to do." No talent has signed on yet, but Wayans says he's talked with family members and former co-stars about creating content for the site. Explains Adams, [...]

Marlon Wayans Is Developing A Genre-Spanning Comedy for ABC

Marlon Wayans is making a TV comeback! ABC's developing his "hybrid single/multi-camera comedy" about two brothers, which "has an odd couple/buddy cop comedy feel to it." I guess it's about a pair of brothers who are cop partners and also mismatched roommates? We're really covering all the bases here, genre-wise.

Speaking of brothers, did everyone else already know that there are ten Wayans siblings, all of whom have careers in entertainment? Why don't people talk about this more?

Each week, a group of amateur comedians, including YouTube stars and standups, will be whittled down to one winner with Wayans and his family and friends judging. Funniest Wins is also expected to launch this summer, and the overall winner of the season will receive a cash prize and a chance to star in a series for Wayans's recently-launched web video site, WhatTheFunny.com.

It turns out the duo went onstage together again last night too. Hannibal Buress started off the evening, followed by Chappelle, then by Kevin Hart. After that, Chappelle, Rock, Hart, Marlon Wayans, and Bill Bellamy took to the stage together for some joking around and riffing. Richard Pryor Biopic Back On with New Director; Eddie Murphy, Marlon Wayans, Michael B. Jordan Eyed to Star

A biopic about the late great standup Richard Pryor has been in the works for nearly two decades now, and while the project has been dormant for the past few years, it looks like a Pryor biopic is once again in development. Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) is in talks to direct the movie, THR reports, and Marlon Wayans, Eddie Murphy, and Fruitvale Station's Michael B. Jordan are being considered to star in it.

Wayans was attached to the part back in 2010 when director Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) was going to direct it. Condon left the project to direct Twilight: Breaking Dawn and the movie's been stalled out [...]

The Richard Pryor Biopic’s 17 Years in Development Hell

Regarded by his peers as the greatest stand-up comedian of all-time, Richard Pryor also lived a fascinating life to match his larger-than-life reputation as a comic. Pryor’s tumultuous personal experiences are what fed his comedy, and it’s no wonder that Hollywood executives, filmmakers, Pryor’s family, and Pryor himself have tried many times to make a biopic about his life. There’s enough stuff in Richard Pryor’s life to fill two or three movies (he grew up in a brothel, rose to the top of his field by breaking boundaries and fighting numerous censorship battles, had some run-ins with the mob, lit himself on fire while freebasing cocaine, and was diagnosed [...]
