Benched co-creator and SNL/Trophy Wife alum Michaela Watkins has new starring role lined up. Deadline reports that Watkins has signed on to star in an upcoming single-cam Hulu comedy called Casual with Jason Reitman onboard as executive producer and director for the pilot episode. Written by Zander Lehmann, the series follows "a dysfunctional family with a bachelor brother, Alex Cole, and his newly divorced sister, therapist Valerie Cole (Watkins). 'SNL' Alum Michaela Watkins Joins Bradley Whitford's ABC Pilot 'Trophy Wife'

Talented ex-SNL-er Michaela Watkins just landed a new gig on the ABC pilot Trophy Wife, starring Malin Åkerman and Bradley Whitford, according to Deadline. We reported yesterday that the show follows Åkerman falling in love with Whitford, only to find herself constantly dealing with his kids and ex-wives. Marcia Gay Harden will play one of the ex-wives and Michaela Watkins will play the other. Watkins was unceremoniously let go from SNL after the 2008-09 season, her first, along with the also-amazing Casey Wilson. Hopefully, Trophy Wife will do for Michaela Watkins what fellow ABC comedy Happy Endings has done for Casey Wilson.

Saturday Night's Children: Michaela Watkins (2008-2009)

Saturday Night Live has been home to over a hundred cast members throughout the past 35 years. In our column Saturday Night’s Children, we present the history, talent, and best sketches of one SNL cast member each week for your viewing, learning, and laughing pleasure.

In the fall of 2008, Saturday Night Live was completely wrapped up in presidential election campaign satire. Present and former cast members were brought in to play political candidates and figures like Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton, Maya Rudolph as Michelle Obama, and Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, and real candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin appeared for [...]

Dave Foley, Michaela Watkins, Martin Starr and More Read James Joyce's Dirty Love Letters

James Joyce was a dirty, dirty man, and Funny Or Die has been capitalizing off that this week in the spirit of Valentine's Day by having Dave Foley, Michaela Watkins, Paget Brewster, Natalie Morales, and Martin Starr give dramatic readings of real love letters written by Joyce. Above, Foley reads a letter that finally answers the burning question: Did Joyce prefer arses or bubbies? Click through to watch the rest of the series.

Zach Braff and Donald Faison Are Together Again and Other Guest Star News

– On August 29, Zach Braff is rejoining his chocolate bear Donald Faison with a guest spot on The Exes, the TV Land show that Faison stars on with Wayne Knight. Hopefully, next The Exes will reunite the comedy duo of Wayne Knight and that dinosaur that spits acid.

The Mindy Project has found their first love interest for Mindy in Tommy Dewey. The actor, who is mostly an unknown, will play a hotshot lawyer who is a real gets-what-he-wants type.

Jenny Slate is set to have a recurring arc on Raising Hope as a social worker who comes to check in on [...]

Michaela Watkins Lives the Life of a Crazy Hand Model

If you were on the internet at all last week, the chances are good that you saw this interview with batshit-crazy hand model Ellen Sirot. Today, we've got an amazing spoof of said video from former SNL cast member Michaela Watkins. The clip of her having sex with her gloved hands straight up in the air is just perfect.

'Enlightened' Season 2 Review: It's 'The Wire,' But Funnier

Something like a little less than one month ago, Patton Oswalt began to tweet his effusive praise of a show very few people had heard of. Like a virus, more and more people on Twitter began to speak the world of it, suddenly discovering that the half hour after Girls Sunday nights on HBO wasn't a test pattern, a talk show talking about Girls that just ends up being a conversation about Lena Dunham, or even a classic episode of Arli$$. Instead, they found a challenging, uncomfortable, intelligent, incredibly nuanced work that wasn't The Wire that is categorized as a "comedy," and featured a bunch of talented comedic actors. [...]

Megan Mullally Schools Aubrey Plaza, Lizzy Caplan, and Casey Wilson in Coolness

Megan Mullally stars in this Funny or Die video as Peggy Dvorak, the gardening and NPR-listening guru who's dedicated her life's work to turning happy tanned actresses into edgy, deep intellectuals. Her clients include Aubrey Plaza, Lizzy Caplan, Casey Wilson, Michaela Watkins and Lake Bell, but definitely not Ellie Kemper, because some girls just do not have what it takes. Incidentally, "donut hole" is my new go-to insult of all time.
