Balancing Standup and Writing for 'Late Night' with Michelle Wolf

Not many comics would close their New Faces Showcase at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival with a three-minute joke tying together men’s masturbation habits and JFK’s assassination. That one’s got a high degree of difficulty.

Michelle Wolf made it look easy.

Wolf, 29, was among the standouts last month at Just For Laughs, the comedy industry’s premiere festival. The NYC-based comic, who’s also a writer/performer on Late Night with Seth Meyers, even earned herself a slot performing in front of 3,000 people for Seth Rogen’s televised gala. Not bad for someone who’s less than 4 years into stand-up.

I had the opportunity to chat with Wolf after her [...]

You Had To Be There #95: Michelle Wolf

This week, Sara and Nikki reveal their hidden motives for hosting a TV show: proving their tween Twitter haters wrong and meeting famous men. It's been a big day for up-and-coming guest comic Michelle Wolf, who arrives at the podcast-office straight from getting herself strategically fired from her impressive-sounding job. Michelle outlines her origin story, twisting from her involvement in the Bear Stearns collapse to her experiments with pretty much every type of comedy and eventually bringing her to today, her first day of fully committing to the craft. Your humble hosts have weathered the risk and excitement of this transition before and offering their insight on the [...]

Other comedians to watch this week on late night include Scott Aukerman, Mike Birbiglia, Michelle Wolf, Aubrey Plaza, Paula Pell, Dana Carvey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Martin Lawrence.

Grown-Up Annie Pays Seth Meyers a Visit on 'Late Night'

Late Night writer Michelle Wolf made an appearance as the show's favorite orphan Grown-Up Annie last night, and as usual, things aren't going very well for her. Either way she's got a great attitude about life, many ways to self-medicate, and her very own strip club, so hopefully she'll catch a break from her bad luck any day now.

Everybody fancies themselves as some sort of wizard that can conjure up laughter by a few strokes of a keyboard, but only a few tweeters are truly worthy enough to have all of their witticisms transmitted to you, the ever busy comedy fan trying to navigate through an increasingly congested internet. Every Friday we'll make your life a little bit easier by introducing you to an individual that you might not know about who consistently makes us laugh and momentarily forget that other days of the week exist.
