CBS Renews 'Two and a Half Men', 'The Millers', 'Mom', '2 Broke Girls', and 'Mike & Molly'

CBS today announced the early renewal of 18 shows, including five comedies, for the 2014-2015 season. The five renewed comedies are veteran series Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, and Mike & Molly and new shows The Millers, starring Will Arnett, and Mom, starring Anna Faris. The Big Bang Theory received a massive three-season renewal from the network yesterday, so producer Chuck Lorre still has four sitcoms on the network.

This leaves the Robin Williams-Sarah Michelle Gellar series The Crazy Ones and the upcoming midseason sitcoms Friends with Better Lives and Bad Teacher as the only comedies CBS has yet to renew. How I Met Your Mother [...]

Talking to Nate Corddry About ‘Mom’, ‘The Heat’, And Why Boston Stereotypes Will Always Be Funny

Nate Corddry is no stranger to the fickle whims of television. He’s starred on three tragically cancelled series, including the much-hyped Aaron Sorkin joint Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, the David E. Kelley legal dramedy Harry’s Law, and the recent animated adaptation of an ‘80s sci-fi classic, Tron: Uprising. But despite the short-lived nature of the shows that have featured him, Corddry himself has left a lasting impression as a sharp, versatile actor. He’s ably balanced both the dramatic – roles as a creepy, clingy restaurant manager on United States of Tara and a soldier in the HBO war epic The Pacific – and the hilarious – a [...]

CBS Unveils Its Fall Schedule, Now Has a Two-Hour Comedy Block on Thursdays

CBS became the last of the Big Four TV networks to announce its Fall 2013 lineup this morning. The biggest development comedy-wise is that they're expanding their Thursday night comedy block to two hour now, giving NBC a run for its money by competing head-on with the Peacock Network's long-running but anemic comedy night. Adding more comedies makes sense with big hits How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men on the way out soon, and

CBS has four new shows with big stars on the schedule this time around: The Crazy Ones (with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar), Mom (with Anna Faris), The Millers [...]

Chuck Lorre, the man behind CBS's mega-hit sitcoms Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and Mike & Molly, is co-creating and producing Mom alongside his Two and a Half Men cohorts Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker. Given Lorre's strong relationship and track record with CBS, this looks like it'll be a sure thing this pilot [...]

CBS Orders Full Seasons of 'The Millers', 'The Crazy Ones' and 'Mom'

CBS sure knows how to make sitcoms that a lot of people watch, and they're sticking with what works. This afternoon, CBS announced nine more episodes for freshman sitcoms The Crazy Ones, The Millers, and Mom, bringing each to 22 episodes. The Millers has been doing very well in this ratings so far, and this week was the second most-watched comedy on network TV after long-running megahit The Big Bang Theory. The Crazy Ones premiered crazy strong, and while it hasn't retained all those viewers, it's still doing quite well. Mom hasn't been performing as well, but CBS seems to trust in the Chuck Lorre-produced sitcom. The network already cancelled [...]

Talking to Matt Jones about 'Mom,' 'The Farm,' and the Final Season of ‘Breaking Bad’

Best known for his role as Badger, Jesse Pinkman’s longtime friend and on-again-off-again drug-dealing lackey, Matt Jones brings a welcome dose of comic relief to Breaking Bad’s usual high-wire tension and meth-addled misery. The man of a thousand knit caps is also a longtime improv and sketch performer with a lengthy list of TV credits, having popped up in everything from Community to NCIS to TRON: Uprising. Jones recently donned the world’s most uncomfortable-looking fake beard to play Dwight Schrute’s cousin Zeke on the attempted The Office spinoff The Farm, and is currently slated to star as Anna Faris’s ex-boyfriend Baxter on the upcoming Chuck Lorre sitcom Mom, set [...]

We've met Liz's parents and Jack's parents and Jenna's mom and Frank's mom but Kenneth's family has been a mystery. And since they can't get a pig to act, we are going to meet Kenneth's mom and her special friend. Catherine O'Hara is in as Mrs. Parcell and Leaves of Grass superfan Bryan Cranston will be her companion. Both are classic perfect 30 Rock guest star castings and they reflect the final season's raising of stakes. But if they really want to kick things up an emotional notch, O'Hara should bring with her Kenneth's father-pig's meatless carcass.
