You Had To Be There #101: Moshe Kasher

This week, Sara and Nikki declassify the events surrounding last week's torrent of celebrity encounters, codenamed "Zero Dark Flirty". Comic Moshe Kasher (@moshekasher, The Champs podcast) barely makes it past MTV's team of New World Order security guards in time to plug his shows at Carolines with Natasha Leggero this very weekend and reminisce about his last barfight. Moshe, whose dark and hilarious memoir Kasher in the Rye was published last year, has been cutting his way through the jungle of the LA TV biz and he comes armed with tales of treacherous table-reads and wise words for tackling rampant self-doubt. The gang talks [...]

'Variety' Tells Us about Their 10 Comics to Watch

Two weeks ago, we showed you the cover of Variety's "10 Comics To Watch" issue. The issue hits newsstands this week, so finally we can get an insight onto why Jillian Bell, Kurt Braunohler, Rob Delaney, Lil Rel Howery, Jake & Amir, Moshe Kasher, Joe Mande, Rory Scovel, and Jessica Williams are so damn watchable. Read about all of these now watched comedians here.

Todd Glass and Moshe Kasher's New Specials Are Now on Netflix Instant

Netflix is dropping two new hour-long stand-up specials today, one from Todd Glass and another from Moshe Kasher. Both are available on streaming. Glass's special is creatively titled Todd Glass: Stand-Up Special, while Kasher's, Live in Oakland, sees the comedian returning to his hometown for the performance. Both specials were produced by New Wave Entertainment, the same folks behind Aziz Ansari and Jim Gaffigan's recent self-releases. Todd Glass and Moshe Kasher are two funny guys, and their specials will most certainly be worth your time and worth putting up with Netflix interrupting every two minutes to buffer.

Leaked 'Variety' Cover Reveals the 10 Comics to Watch for 2012

Sarah Colonna tweeted this picture that reveals this year's Variety "10 Comics to Watch", probably because she was super excited to be featured. Also probably excited are: Jillian Bell, Kurt Braunohler, Rob Delaney, Lil Rel Howery, Jake & Amir, Moshe Kasher, Joe Mande, Rory Scovel, and Jessica Williams. Considering its track record, this is a big break for these young comedians. Last year's list included Rebel Wilson, Amy Schumer, Harris Wittels, Chris D'Elia, and Pete Holmes and they're doing all right. The issue doesn't officially get released until 7/25, so we won't know why each was picked until then. But it's probably because they're all funny and cool and [...]

'Esquire' Got Comedians to Pick the Best New Comedians

Esquire brought Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Hardwick, Amy Schumer, Andy Kindler, and Seth Herzog in to name their favorite new comedians. The level of newness varied but it's hard to argue with the choices, which included: Chelsea Peretti, Kyle Kinane, Moshe Kasher, Ron Funches, Tig Notaro, James Adomian, Rory Scovel, and John Mulaney.

Moshe Kasher on His Deaf and Jewish Parents

Moshe Kasher performed on Conan last night to promote his new book Kasher in the Rye and to tell the world about the tragedy of growing up with parents who were both deaf and Jewish. He does do a good job at trying to "look deaf," I'll say that for him. Below, he takes a seat on the couch for some chhhhit-chhhhhat (that's the Hebrew pronunciation) about growing up in a Chhhhhasidic neighborchhhhood.
