Nahnatchka Khan's 'Fresh Off the Boat' Premieres on ABC February 10th

Now that ABC has canceled two of its freshman comedies Selfie and Manhattan Love Story, it's made room for another new comedy, Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Khan's Fresh Off the Boat. According to Deadline, the comedy will air a preview on Wednesday, February 4th at 8:30pm between episodes of The Middle and Modern Family then premiere in its regular time slot the following week on Tuesday, February 10th at 8:00pm. 'Don't Trust the B' Creator Nahnatchka Khan Sells a New Show to ABC

Don't Trust the B creator Nahnatchka Khan just sold her second show in as many weeks. Deadline reports that ABC is developing a new show for the 2014-2015 TV season written and produced by Khan. Called Fresh Off the Boat, the project is based on restauranteur/TV personality Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name and follows a Chinese family who moves to Orlando (Huang's family, upon which the show is based, is Taiwanese). Like Huang, Khan is also a first-generation American. Jake Kasdan (New Girl, Bad Teacher) is also producing the show. ABC Orders Culture-Straddling Comedies 'Cristela' and 'Fresh off the Boat'

After canceling a ton of shows last week, ABC has added two new comedies to its lineup both centered on family and cultural identity, THR reports. The first series order goes to Cristela, a semi-autobiographical multi-cam show by and starring standup Cristela Alonzo as "an American Latina straddling cultures while not fully belonging to either." Fox Orders a Pilot from Jim Rash, Nat Faxon, and Nahnatchka Khan

Fox is already buying pilots for the 2014-15 TV season. Deadline reports that the network ordered a pilot called Fatrick produced by Don't Trust the B creator Nahnatchka Khan and The Way, Way Back/The Descendants team Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. Faxon and Rash will also direct the pilot, which was co-written by Khan and  her Don't Trust the B colleague  Corey Nickerson. Fatrick follows a handsome, cool ladies man named Patrick who is being held back by his insecurities of growing up as a heavyset kid the others children called "Fatrick."
