Lonely Island Is Developing Fox Comedies Starring Danny Pudi, Neal Brennan, and Andre Hyland

Back in January, SNL alums Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone signed a deal with Fox to develop new shows, and today Deadline reports that they have three potential series in development. The trio's alternative comedy development company, called Party Over Here, announced the projects currently in production including a sci-fi comedy starring Danny Pudi, a mockumentary show hosted by Neal Brennan, and a hidden camera show from comedian Andrew Hyland. No word yet whether the shows will premiere on Fox, FX, FXX, or only on streaming services like Hulu and Roku. Here's the breakdown of all three shows:

From Behind the Scenes to In Front of the Camera with Neal Brennan

With his new gig hosting The Approval Matrix on Sundance TV, Neal Brennan has completed his reverse transformation from behind-the-scenes writer-director to on-camera talent.

Brennan co-created Chappelle’s Show, and for years was a go-to film and television writer and director. Then, about 7 years ago he started to focus on standup, and has since reverse engineered (by traditional Hollywood standards) a performing career, including Comedy Central standup specials and voiceover work for Samsung, and culminating in the new panel TV show he’s hosting.

Inspired by the famous back page of New York magazine, the new talk show presents Brennan and his panel guests the opportunity to dissect the latest in [...]

Neal Brennan Doesn't Care for Pete Holmes's Dave Chappelle Impression

Neal Brennan stopped by The Pete Holmes Show, and Pete took the opportunity to do his best David Chappelle/Aziz Ansari impression for the Chappelle Show co-creator, just because he knows he hates it. The rest of the interviews, the guys discussed the stresses of running a television show, what it takes to make it in Hollywood, and did some gossiping about Jerry O'Connell and Ryan Gosling.

Neal Brennan Empirically Proves that Humanity Is All Jerks

Chappelle's Show co-creator Neal Brennan swung by Late Night the other day to determine once and for all which is the meaner gender. Spoiler: all of us are equally horrible. Even Mother Teresa. Oh, what, she gives hungry people soup? At least give them some solid food, lady! What a bitch.

John Mulaney Looks Back on Meeting the Obamas with Neal Brennan

On a recent episode of Tom Green Live, John Mulaney told the story of how he got to meet the Obamas when he helped write for Seth Meyers's White House Correspondents Dinner performance in 2011. It turns out that introducing himself right after Chappelle's Show co-creator Neal Brennan was not the best technique for getting some love from Barack and Michelle.

Neal Brennan Shares an Update from Tracy Morgan on 'Late Night'

Back in early June, former SNL and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan was a victim of a car crash in New Jersey, and on last night's Late Night, Neal Brennan shared some news from a recent phone call with Morgan, which proves that while Tracy still has a long road to physical recovery, his sense of humor has gone completely unharmed. Click through for another clip from Brennan's interview.

Talking to Neal Brennan About 'Chappelle's Show', Standup, Podcasts and More

Much in the way that Bill Clinton was considered our first black president, Neal Brennan might be our first black podcast host.

As co-host of The Champs podcast, along with comedians Moshe Kasher and DJ Douggpound, Brennan brings the predominantly white podcast universe a much-needed dose of diversity through his show’s edict of having only black entertainers as guests. It’s a funny and interesting formula that works, as the podcast is edging towards 1 million downloads. And what better ambassador to the black community, as Brennan himself would probably tell you. He earned his street cred co-creating Chappelle’s Show, one of the most successful black-themed television [...]

Eugene Mirman Makes the Coolest Malt Liquor Ad Ever on 'The Approval Matrix'

brightcove.createExperiences(); Here's a sneak peek at Monday night's episode of SundanceTV's The Approval Matrix, in which host Neal Brennan wonders what happened to being cool and enlists Eugene Mirman to star in a malt liquor ad that updates the smoothness of '80s Colt 45 commercials with today's idea of coolness — a Game of Thrones fan who gets really mad if you rudely take the "Cold 45" he wanted to give to his friend Xavier.

Neal Brennan Is Hosting a Game Show Based on 'NY Mag's Approval Matrix for Sundance

New York magazine's "Approval Matrix" is getting its very own TV show. Chappelle's Show show co-creator Neal Brennan has been hired to host a game show called The Approval Matrix based on the magazine's regular feature, Vulture reports. The six-episode series will air on Sundance TV and is set to premiere in July. The Daily Show's Rory Albanese will produce and write the show, which will feature Brennan being joined by a different panel of comedians for and celebrities for each episode.
