Christoph Waltz Will Be a Muppet Villain

Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz is close to signing on for a substantial role in the new Muppets movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Waltz is in talks to play an Interpol inspector, one of the few major human characters in the new movie (besides a million cameos). Other human roles that have yet to be filled are that of a "Russian femme fatale" and a "male lead 'whose intentions are always in question.'"  As reported previously, James Bobin (who directed the previous Muppets movie) and Nicholas Stoller (who co-wrote it with Jason Segel) are writing the sequel for Bobin to direct. CBS Has Ordered a Comedy Pilot From The Muppets' Nicholas Stoller

Nicholas Stoller, writer of such films as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek and The Muppets, is moving to TV! CBS just ordered a pilot for his "twenty-something ensemble comedy about a guy who gets his heart broken by his girlfriend and now has to work one cubicle away from her at an ad agency." Hopefully at least one member of this twenty-something ensemble is Jason Segel. And the ex-girlfriend is Miss Piggy. And the entire project is a TV version of the Muppet movie. What? Who said that? Not me.

Review Roundup: The Five-Year Engagement Engages But for Too Long

It was hard to get a sense in the trailer if Five-Year Engagement, the new film from Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, is going to be good. The pedigree is there both in front and behind the camera but the trailer included a pretty awful "I heard that black pianese are much bigger" joke. So what have the critics been saying?

Currently, it's at a 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59 on Metacritic, which is definitively in the pretty good range. (In comparison, Forgetting Sarah Marshall clocked in at 84% and 67 respectively.) What's interesting is most of the negative reviews and positive reviews [...]

Five-Year Engagement Trailer Is a Pleasant Swirl of Comedy & Romance

Here's the trailer for Five-Year Engagment, written by Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller and starring Segal and Emily Blunt, set for release April 27. The trailer alone includes one party with champagne, one couple falling into a snowdrift, one twinkly-lit rooftop, and one scene of the couple running towards each other, which together earn it an official rom-com cuteness badge. It should be exciting to see if Segal and Stoller can breathe new life into the petrified corpse of the American romantic comedy. The movie also features Chris Pratt along with one Ms. Alison Brie talking in a British accent, so in the words of Splitsider El Hefe Adam [...]

The bad news: Jason Segel is too busy being a giant TV and movie star to help Nicholas Stoller and director James Bobin write the script.
