The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show: NYU Video Game Professor in Game Design Eric Zimmerman

This week on the Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin show, Jeff talks to Eric Zimmerman, who is an NYU professor at the NYU Gamecenter teaching game design.

Eric tells the story of how he got the job, how you teach game design, and how much of the homework that the students get is just playing video games. Trey Parker And Matt Stone Crash An N.Y.U Writing Class

Everyone who was too hung over to crawl out of their dorm rooms are not doubt kicking themselves now, seeing as how Trey Parker and Matt Stone crashed an NYU writing class. Granted it was for an episode of mtvU's Stand In set to air Oct. 3 and not some perfectly orchestrated surprise attack, but still, it's pretty unbelievable how crazliy engaged and excited Stone and Parker seem to be there. The Book of Mormon creators even walk the first year "Storytelling Strategies" class through an average day in the South Park writers' room. Look, they use a white board just like us! Those kids can already smell [...]

Jon Stewart Gives Surprise Guest Lecture at NYU

This is one of those classes you would be really pissed to sleep through: Jon Stewart showed up at Victor Pickard’s Intro to Media Studies class at NYU this morning, where he "entered the class pretending to be a professor and launched into a routine spoofing the typical university media class." He then did a 40 minute Q&A. Apparently he reached out to Prof. Pickard a week ago asking if he could do this and Pickard agreed. The whole thing was shot by a crew from The Daily Show and will presumably show up on the show at some point in the near future. (Thanks, Myles!)
