'SNL' Review: Seth Rogen Half-Baked

While watching Seth Rogen host SNL for the third time last weekend, I was reminded of two other three-peat hosts from earlier this season: Paul Rudd in December and Jonah Hill in January. Rudd's episode felt like extended promo for Anchorman 2, with the host failing to capture that lightning in the bottle with cast members that made his previous stints so memorable. Hill, however, seemed to enjoy himself every bit as much as he did his first two appearances.

Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Jonah Hill are, of course, hugely successful alumni from Team Judd Apatow, but their careers have taken diverging trajectories. Rogen and Rudd have [...]

Rob Delaney Is Pumped about the Paul Ryan Pick

"If anything, if [Mitt Romney] were seeking to balance the ticket, his just got so off-balance that it flipped off into the stratosphere with Paul Ryan … Paul Ryan will be more fun to engage with as a comedic target. One thing that will be more fun about him is he ostensibly believes what he says. He’s a zealot and an ideologue, and so that’ll be a different kind of tussle with him, which I look forward to… I don’t feel bad making fun of them brutally, because it’s literally in their job description. It is: be made fun of by snotnosed comedians. So they’re doing their job, I’m doing [...]

'The Onion's Joe Biden Beats Paul Ryan and the Real Biden at the Debate

Beloved Onion character "Vice President Joe Biden" live-tweeted real-life person Joe Biden and real-life Republican Paul Ryan's big debate last night, and the results were pretty glorious. The Onion also covered the debate last night, with a series of stories about "Joe Biden" and his debate behavior, which involved vomiting onstage, having his rowdy friends removed from the debate hall by security, and made out with Janna Ryan in front of a slew of spectators, concluding the whole thing in a surprisingly heartfelt speech:

"'Over the years I have been made an object of mockery and ridicule. I have seen pictures of me in the most humiliating [...]

'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report's' Take on the Paul Ryan Pick

After we asked, "Who's gonna play Paul Ryan on SNL?" we knew the next question was: "What is The Daily Show and The Colbert Report going to say about him?" The Daily Show dedicated a whole episode to the Ryan choice, even bringing on Paul Ryan biographer/vampire Robert Pattinson. Watch Colbert's take (including his pick for who should play Ryan on SNL) and the rest of The Daily Show's coverage below. Afterward, if you have time, can you maybe explain what government entitlements are?

Seth Meyers Will Not Play Paul Ryan

Great journalism, TMZ reporter. So with Seth, who we already assumed wasn't going to do it, out of the race, we're basically back to Bill Hader and Taran Killam. Hader still seems like the most logical choice but as Meyers told Vanity Fair, they're still undecided:

“I don’t know. This is exciting, because obviously four years ago there was no argument that Tina [Fey] would play Sarah Palin. And now we’ve got a real horse race. There’s a lot of people, a lot of guys I know, working on their Paul Ryan right now…I’m just saying, there are a lot of guys going to barbershops right now, [...]

OK, So Who's Gonna Play Paul Ryan on 'SNL'?

Paul Ryan is Mitt Romney's VP pick. If you want what that means for the presidential campaign, you're in the wrong place. Go read about that stuff elsewhere! We don't have time for that fluff. Instead, we need to focus on the very important question that this news raises: who's gonna play him on SNL?

A few of the current dudes will almost definitely not be playing him: Fred Armisen, as he plays Obama, Jason Sudeikis, as he plays both Romney and Biden, and Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah because they are black and Ryan is white. Unless they are going in a really weird direction with this impression, [...]
