Pitch Perfect 2 hasn't even hit theaters yet, but Pitch Perfect 3 is already a go. Rebel Wilson recently confirmed with the Los Angeles Times that she's signed on to reprise her role as Patricia "Fat Amy" in the third film. No other cast has been confirmed yet, but considering the first film made over $100 million at the box office in 2012, they're likely to return for the third round. Pitch Perfect 2 debuts in theaters on Friday, May 15th and also makes Elizabeth Banks's directorial debut; check out the newest trailer below:

'Pitch Perfect 2' Is Official, Coming in 2015

It's official: Universal is making a sequel to Pitch Perfect. While the studio began exploring the option of sequelizing the college a cappella comedy last year, /Film reports that a sequel has officially been greenlit and they're aiming for a 2015 release. The original movie's writer Kay Cannon will be returning to script Pitch Perfect 2, but there's no confirmation on any of the cast coming back yet. Given that they all reunited at the MTV Movie Awards this past weekend, I'd say there's a pretty good chance everyone will be back. Movieweb reported last year that Universal was in talks with stars Rebel Wilson and Skylar [...]

'Pitch Perfect 2' Is in the Works

Movieweb reports that discussions are taking place for a sequel to the best collegiate a cappella comedy of 2012, Pitch Perfect. Universal has yet to make an official announcement on Pitch Perfect 2, but one of the first movie's stars, Skylar Astin told Movieweb that he and fellow cast member Rebel Wilson have each taken meetings with the studio about a potential sequel. The first Pitch Perfect , written by 30 Rock's Kay Cannon and also starring Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Adam DeVine, was released in October and performed well with critics and at the box office. So, for those of you who [...]

The Trailer for the Kay Cannon Scripted 'Pitch Perfect' Is Pitch Solid

There are some trailers where you can just hear the studio executives' conversation:

Exec 1: "Ok, Glee is really popular with kids. Am I saying that right, "kids?" What should we do?" Exec 2: "There's this book called Pitch Perfect that's just like Bring It On, but, wait for it, with singing!" Exec 3: "Who will be in it?" Exec 4: "Anna Kendrick?" Exec 1 and 2: "Perfect!" Exec 3: "Pitch Perfect." Exex 1, 2, 3, 4: "Hahahahahahahahah" [Then they laugh and throw money at each other for eternity]

However, 30 Rock writer and all-around funny person, Kay Cannon wrote it, so it could/should be better than expected. At minimum, you might [...]

'Pitch Perfect' Director in Talks for Tina Fey and Paula Pell's Movie 'The Nest'

Director Jason Moore, who made his feature debut with this summer's surprise hit Pitch Perfect, is in negotiations to direct a new comedy called The Nest from Tina Fey and Paula Pell, according to Deadline. The movie was written by Pell and will be produced by Fey via her company Little Stranger Inc. Tina Fey may star in The Nest as one of the sisters. This will be Pell's first screenplay, but she's been dipping her [...]

Kay Cannon Reminisces About Discovering the Joys of A Cappella

"I didn't know anything about the a cappella world. I didn't even know it existed until my first year at 30 Rock. There was a joke about the character Toofer being part of an a cappella group in Harvard. I thought that was such a funny joke. My boss, Robert Carlock, said, 'It's not really a joke. It's a real thing. That world exists.' I'm from Chicago, and it's not really popular there — or at least back in my day it wasn't super popular; I think it might be more now. When I heard that world existed, I actually said in the writers' room, 'Someone needs to write a [...]

Pitch Pefect: Passionately Belting Soon In A Theater Near You

According to Deadline, Universal and Gold Circle have acquired worldwide rights to Pitch Perfect, "a musical comedy set in the world of college a cappella groups," continuing the current Glee-fueled trend for all things polyphonic. SNL's Kay Cannon is writing the screenplay, based on the nonfiction book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory.

'SNL' Review: Princess Anna Kendrick

Whenever SNL producers book a host who seems inexperienced in live comedy, they fall back on a kind of playbook. Stick to popular recurring bits and pretaped videos to take the burden off the host. Give her small, easy stuff that plays to her strengths, then get her out of there. If she can sing, let her sing. The goal is to Bodyguard-cradle the host, letting her enjoy herself while hiding her from the real dangers of the scary sketch comedy world.

Given how little we saw of Anna Kendrick this episode, you'd think Lorne was standing nearby off stage, ready to dive in and take a bullet.

I [...]

Rebel Wilson Is Your 2013 MTV Movie Awards Host

Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson has just been tapped by MTV to be the host of the network's 22nd annual MTV Movie Awards next year. The ceremony is set to air on April 14th and sees the trend of MTV using a comedian to host the awards show continue. Russell Brand hosted last time and was preceded by Jason Sudeikis, Aziz Ansari, Andy Samberg, Mike Myers, and Sarah Silverman before him. Prior to that, the MTV Movie Awards were in a weird era where they hired people like Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan to host. Rebel Wilson, who hails from Australia, has been keeping especially busy [...]

NBC Hops on the Musical Teens Bandwagon with New Marching Band Comedy

Taking a cue from Glee and this weekend’s college a cappella comedy Pitch Perfect, NBC is developing a show about rhythmic youngsters all of its own. According to Deadline, the Peacock Network has hired Bucky Larson director/Simpsons producer Tom Brady to write a new series called The Swamp, which follows “a scramble-style college marching band” in New Orleans. If NBC picks up the show, it’ll be worth watching just to find out what a scramble-style marching band is and how that is different from a normal marching band.
