JASH, a new YouTube channel featuring original content from Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim & Eric, and Reggie Watts launched earlier this month, and today, Reggie Watts debuted his first two videos for the channel. The first (above) is a music video for a song called "If You're Fucking, You're Fucking." The second (below) is the first episode of a web series called One Take, in which Watts makes a song based on four different YouTube comments each time. Get ready to have a regular dosage of soundboard musical comedy in your life.
Michael Cera, Sarah Silverman, Tim & Eric, and Reggie Watts have teamed up to create content for a new YouTube channel called Jash, which is set to launch next week. The five comedians will be kicking things off by sitting down with Scott Aukerman for a live episode of Comedy Bang Bang at the South by Southwest festival, video of which will be streamed live this Sunday at 1pm EST/10am PST at this YouTube link. Long-running Bay Area comedy festival SF Sketchfest just announced its 2013 lineup, and it's pretty impressive roster that includes pretty much everybody in comedy. The event runs from January 24 to February 10, 2013, taking place in 26 different venues in San Francisco. Tickets ranging from $10 to $50 will go on sale at 10:00am PST this Sunday at www.sfsketchfest.com. It’s really impressive any time a TV show makes it to air because it’s such an arduous process to even get a pilot episode made, let alone getting a show picked up to series. Above Average, the YouTube channel from Lorne Michaels's company Broadway Video, just debuted a new web series today. It's called The Future and features stand-up Emily Heller giving psychic readings to comedians. Reggie Watts is the guest for the first episode, which was directed by The Lonely Island's Jorma Taccone and explores the subject of feline breast augmentation in-depth.
Here's a newly-unearthed video of Reggie Watts (of Conan and Comedy Bang Bang fame) performing a parody song on the PBS/Disney kids show Bill Nye the Science Guy from 1998. At the time, Watts was a 25-year-old alternative musician in Seattle. Bill Nye was also filmed in Seattle and would typically use local musicians for the music videos that closed out each episode. This is Watts's earliest known TV credit and precedes anything on his IMDB by nearly a decade. He wouldn't begin performing solo until 2002. IFC announced today that it's renewed the sketch comedy/talk show Comedy Bang Bang for a second season, doubling its first season order for a total of 20 episodes this time around. These 20 episodes will air in two chunks of 10, one in third quarter 2013 and the other in fourth quarter 2013. Production on Season 2 is apparently already happening in LA. The Hollywood Reporter announced yesterday that Daniel Kellison, creator of The Man Show and ex-producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, is developing two new YouTube channels, Jash and Video Podcast Network, which are both expected to launch in January.
