TBS Renews 'Conan' Through 2015

With the Leno/Fallon changing of the guard at NBC and a shuffle of other late night hosts expected as a result, it looks like Conan O'Brien is staying put at TBS. The cable network announced today that they've renewed Conan through November 2015. His previous contract was set to run up in April of 2014. Conan has settled into modest ratings since its high-rated debut on TBS in November of 2010. This week, the Conan gang is in Atlanta to host a week of shows from the city in conjunction with the NCAA's Final Four.

The contract renewal keeps Conan out of the mix for a series of big [...]

Nurse Jackie Still Has More Drugging to Do

With its fourth-season finale coming up in a couple weeks, Nurse Jackie has already been renewed for a fifth season. For which former Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips will replace the two departing executive producers. So I guess Nurse J is going to start attempting to murder people but before they die, she'll nurse them back to health, just so she can murder them a second time (like a Super Dexter). Also, she'll do drugs.

FX Renews 'Archer' for a Fifth Season

The FX network announced today that it's ordered a fifth season of its critically-acclaimed animated spy comedy Archer, one of TV's smartest and funniest shows. The show, created by Adam Reed and boasting a voice cast that includes Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, and Jessica Walter, is currently in the midst of its fourth season, which has been earning record ratings and experiencing big gains over the previous one. There are currently seven episodes remaining in Archer's current season, which concludes April 11th. Like the last couple seasons of the show, the new fifth season will consist of 13 episodes. No premiere date is set, but [...]

'Community' Was Renewed and Other Less Exciting News

Hip! Hip!.. Hopefully, you added, "Hooray" because it's time to celebrate. Community will be renewed for a fourth season. The order will be for 13 episodes; however, there will be an option for NBC to pick-up the back nine, depending on how the show is doing. This puts the show in an interesting but not particularly relaxing situation. The good news is the show is coming back and people at NBC aren't referring to it as its final season. The bad news is the show's fate is still not completely certain. Another wrinkle is that 13 more episodes puts them at 84 total episodes, four shy of the [...]

Being #1 Again Has Gone to NBC’s Head; Network Renews Shows Left and Right

Hot on the heels of today's news that NBC finished first with viewers under 50 for premiere week for the first time in nine years, the execs at the Peacock Network have gone ahead and ordered up full seasons of two of their most popular comedies, the Matthew Perry grieve-fest Go On and the controversial-for-Utah adoption sitcom The New Normal (NBC's freshman drama Revolution also got renewed, but the dramatic arts don't concern us here). Both comedies benefited from having the wildly-popular singing competition The Voice as a lead-in, an advantage that the rest of the networks' sitcoms haven't had (and have been suffering for), but it's good to see that [...]

'30 Rock' and 'Parenthood' Officially Renewed, 'Office' Regulars Returning – Woo and Hoo

It has been speculated for a week or so but it still feels nice to get an official word. As we reported, 30 Rock will be given an abbreviated final season. It's sad news for a show arguably still at the height of its powers but it’s a hell of a lot better than it just getting taken off without a finale. In a time rife with cancellation speculation (band name?), it’s nice for a show like 30 Rock to be able to write itself a proper ending; it's what Tina Fey always wanted. No word on Community and Parks & Recreation but things still look solid, [...]
