Watch Episodes of 'The Office,' 'Rick and Morty,' 'The Simpsons,' and More with the Jokes Removed

Recently a Redditor decided to edit episodes of Seinfeld, Friends, and The Big Bang Theory to include only plot information and no jokes, and the result was an interesting look at how all three shows approach story and punchlines. If those three shows weren't enough, the same Redditor has gone and edited episodes of Community, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, and Rick and Morty. Of all the shows highlighted in this series so far, The Office currently has the smallest plot with a clip that lasts just over a minute, while Adult Swim's Rick and Morty leads the pack with [...]

Well here's a television network first: Adult Swim has premiered the newest episode of Rick and Morty via the show's official Instagram account. Because of Instagram's 15-second video length limitations, the episode has been sliced up into over one hundred clips. Click through to watch the first five, or head on over to the Rick and Morty Instagram page to endure one of the most bizarre TV show premiere techniques ever.

Talking to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland About Their New Adult Swim Show, 'Rick and Morty'

During Dan Harmon's Community exodus last year, he went and created another TV show, this one for Adult Swim. Called Rick and Morty, the new animated series was co-created by Harmon and Justin Roiland, and it premieres tonight at 10:30.

Based on a rejected pilot Roiland made for Harmon's monthly video competition Channel 101 in 2006 called "The Real Adventures of Doc and Mharti," Rick and Morty is a Back to the Future-inspired sci-fi comedy about a sociopathic scientist and his grandson going on wild adventures. I recently had the chance to talk to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland about how the new show came to be, how they [...]

Dan Harmon's 'Rick and Morty' Premieres on Adult Swim on Dec. 2

Dan Harmon's long-awaited new half-hour animated sitcom, Rick and Morty, is set to debut on Adult Swim on Dec 2. The show, which Harmon created and executive produces with Justin Roiland, follows "a sociopathic scientist who drags his unintelligent grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe." The show is based on Roiland's Channel 101 shorts "The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti," which were themselves based on Back to the Future's Doc Brown and Marty McFly. The voice cast includes Roiland, Sarah Chalke, and Chris Parnell.

In an interview with Splitsider in February, Harmon described the show thusly:

I've got my Adult Swim show [Rick and Morty], [...]

'Rick and Morty', 'Bob's Burgers', and 'American Dad!': Three Cartoons at Three Stages of Life

Due to the nature of animation, cartoons can last a lot longer than live action shows. Characters don't age, so the 4th grade can be played out dozens of times in a row without the threat of puberty ever setting in. But as the 25th season of The Simpsons reminds us each week, that doesn't necessarily mean they should last forever. The writing gets stale, storylines get re-used, and as Lisa Simpson reminded us was when The Simpsons was still in its prime, the characters can't have the same impact they once had. With that mind, let's take a look at three animated comedies at different stages in their [...]

Adult Swim Renews Dan Harmon's 'Rick and Morty' for Season 2

Community creator Dan Harmon's new series, the animated Adult Swim sci-fi comedy Rick and Morty, has been renewed for a second season. Adult Swim has yet to confirm the renewal, but one of the writers who was added for Season 2, Matt Roller (Community), posted a picture of the show's Season 2 writing staff on Twitter earlier this week that has since been removed. There's no word on how many episodes the new season will be.

Co-created by Harmon and Justin Roiland and loosely based on Roiland's failed Channel 101 pilot and subsequent web series The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, it's a Back to the Future-esque story about [...]

Looking at 'Rick and Morty's Meticulously-Crafted First Season

The inaugural season of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s runaway Cronenbergian monster of a hit, Rick and Morty, wrapped last night, ending a nearly flawless season of ambitious animated television. The scope and complexity of Rick and Morty should be no surprise considering that Harmon is no stranger to ambitious, meticulously-constructed television on his other series, Community. What’s especially worth noting in Harmon and Roiland's collaboration this time around is that Rick and Morty is essentially your only hope to standing up against the unforgiving universe(s) and all of its bleakness.

It’s also a very, very funny show.

As 2013 winds down, the TV season is doing so too, but there's still some exciting stuff happening this week.
