Jay Leno Made Another Shitty Joke at NBC's Expense Last Night

The NY Times reported this weekend that Jay Leno's boss, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, complained to him about jokes he's made about the network, but Leno is not letting up. Here's a thingie from Leno's monologue last night:

"Did you hear about this? A 28-year-old woman from Serbia has a rare brain condition where she sees everything upside down. The good news? She’s now been given a job at the White House as President Obama’s economic adviser. Isn’t that crazy? It’s unbelievable. She sees everything upside down. In fact, she thinks NBC is at the top of the ratings."

Sure, it's a tame joke, and it would [...]

NBC Chairman: "I'm Hopeful for 'Parks & Rec' and 'Community' But Anything Can Happen"

NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt talked about the future of two of the network's most-beloved but Nielsen-challenged shows at the Television Critics Association's Press Tour this weekend, being quoted as saying, "I'm hopeful for Parks & Rec – and Community – but anything can happen between now and May." It's good that Greenblatt says he's hopeful for the show's futures but bad that he backpedals out of that statement immediately. We'll see what happens between now and May, when NBC will have to make the decision about picking up the two comedies for another season.

With NBC only ordering a 13-episode half-season of Community this year, pushing the [...]

Jay Leno Calls NBC Executives "Snakes"

Earlier this week, The NY Times reported that Jay Leno had upset NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt by making some jokes about the network being in fifth place. According to the story, Greenblatt emailed Leno to complain, and Leno responded by defending his right to make jokes about NBC. On last night's show, he continue to bite the hand that feeds with a joke about NBC in his monologue:

You know the whole legend of St. Patrick, right? St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, then they came here to the United States and became NBC executives.

Sure, it's a typically tame, lame Leno joke, [...]

NBC Executive Offended by Jay Leno's Jokes About the Network

Hot on the heels of reports that NBC wants to replace Tonight Show host Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon comes a New York Times story about NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt being offended by some of Leno's monologue jokes about the network. Late Shift author Bill Carter, who wrote the Times piece, reports that three executives say Greenblatt was so offended by Leno's jokes about NBC falling to fifth place that he emailed the Tonight Show host to complain. Leno and Greenblatt exchanged emails debating the issue, with Leno standing by his zingers and arguing that making fun of one's network is a late night tradition. [...]
