Chris D’Elia, Ron Funches, and More Are Promoting NBC's 'Undateable' on the Road

Comedy Central's Broad City isn't the only show implementing a live tour into its promotional plans. According to Deadline, the midseason NBC series Undateable — created by Adam Sztykiel and executive produced by Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence — is also taking to the road next month on a multi-city tour. Lawrence will serve as the live show's host while cast members Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, and Rick Glassman each perform standup sets. They'll also incorporate humor from the TV show, which follows a cool guy who tries to teach a group of "undateable" guys how to turn their love lives around.

Talking to Ron Funches About Standup, LA, and His First Sitcom Acting Gig

It’s hard to find a more likeable person than comedian Ron Funches. Jolly with a soft-spoken sincerity about him, it is Funches’ optimism that makes him eccentric in the comedy world. He is the guy that other comics are actually happy for each time he gets something. He also has one of the top five best laughs in the universe — if you haven’t heard it, it’s a treat.

After leaving Portland for LA in search of more opportunity last year, Funches is achieving more and more success. He'll appear in the upcoming Bill Lawrence sitcom, Undateable, and is fresh off of “the best week ever” at the Just For [...]

Ron Funches on Fighting His "Adorable" Image

Sure, Ron Funches is an undeniably likable comedy teddy bear. But don’t get it twisted. “Oh, I’m sweet and nice. But don’t fuck with me.” Funches is having a great summer as his name is taking small strides toward household status, with his role on NBC’s new sitcom Undateable, the premiere of his Comedy Central Half Hour special, and being booked alongside a bunch of big names on Funny Or Die's upcoming Oddball Fest tour. I talked with Funches about TV, balancing standup with acting, and how fatherhood fosters toughness.

Watch Ron Funches Talk Black Tuba Players and Defective Cats on 'Conan'

Rob Funches — who was announced as one of the standups who got a Comedy Central half-hour special this week — made his second appearance on Conan last night. Funches covers everything from black tuba players to American feline obesity statistics in his five-minute set, and really, what better way to start Valentine's Day than some jokes about defective Humane Society cats?

'Esquire' Got Comedians to Pick the Best New Comedians

Esquire brought Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Hardwick, Amy Schumer, Andy Kindler, and Seth Herzog in to name their favorite new comedians. The level of newness varied but it's hard to argue with the choices, which included: Chelsea Peretti, Kyle Kinane, Moshe Kasher, Ron Funches, Tig Notaro, James Adomian, Rory Scovel, and John Mulaney.

'Kroll Show's Second Season Evolves Into "Sketch-uational Comedy"

As far as character showcases go, it doesn't get much more elaborate than Kroll Show.

When Nick Kroll's sketch series on Comedy Central returned for its second season in January, it was clear that he had set his sights firmly on the pseudo-celebrity culture of reality television, with a lineup of characters inspired by the most despicable monsters that crawled out of the Jersey Shore and Real Housewives muck: the Guido womanizer Bobby Bottleservice, the psychopathic publicists of "PubLIZity," the man-child toilet-baby C-Czar, the self-destructively vain Rich Dicks, etc. But if the first season served to introduce the freakshow, the second season unleashed them out into [...]

Here Are the Comedians Getting Comedy Central 'Half-Hour' Specials in 2014

Every year, Comedy Central gives 30-minute specials to a bunch of standups as part of their series The Half-Hour, with the achievement serving as a career milestone for the comedians selected. Comedy Central gave us this exclusive look at the list of the 15 comedians chosen to do an episode of The Half-Hour's third season in 2014, with the specials set to tape at Royale in Boston from March 25th to 28th. There's no word on when the new season of The Half-Hour will air, but it will feature Chris Gethard, who's turning his public access show The Chris Gethard Show into a pilot for Comedy Central; Chelsea Lately regular Fortune Feimster, [...]
