Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Forte Are '80s Chic in the 'Moonbeam City' Trailer

Back in January, Comedy Central announced that they had picked up Moonbeam City, an animated Miami Vice-style parody from Funny or Die and Conan writer Scott Gairdner, and the first trailer is now online. Starring Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Banks, Will Forte, and Kate Mara as a team of undercover cops with wonderfully tacky names, Moonbeam City looks like the perfect show for Lisa Frank fans and gritty cop drama fans alike and is slated to premiere in spring 2015.

'Conan' Writer Scott Gairdner Responded to a Weird Reddit Question About One of His Videos with Hilarious Lies

Earlier this week, a Reddit user posted a weird series of questions about "The Sex Offender Shuffle," a comedy video Scott Gairdner (Conan, Funny or Die) made in 2009. The Reddit user asked a bunch of questions under the impression that the video, a faux-'80s video of a group of sex offenders legally required to perform a "Super Bowl Shuffle"-esque song and dance about their crimes, is real:

[AMA Request] Cast Member from the Sex Offender Shuffle

My 5 Questions: Why does this video exist, considering the trouble it must've been to create in the 80's? Who was this video made for? How did you obtain this position as [...]

Comedy Central Orders an Animated Pilot from Will Gluck and 'Conan' Writer Scott Gairdner

With Futurama on the way out, Comedy Central has a new animated comedy in the works. THR reports that the cable network has commissioned an animated pilot called Moonbeam City. The pilot will be executive produced by Will Gluck, director of Easy A, and written/created by Scott Gairdner (pictured), a former writer/director for Funny or Die who is currently on Conan's writing staff. Moonbeam City is an absurdist riff on '80s crime dramas following Dazzle Novak, a dumb, handsome undercover cop who is desperate to avoid solving crimes. Gairdner, creator of web series like Tiny Fuppets and Clip Cup, surely has some amazing stuff cooked up for [...]

Tiny Fuppets About To Take America By Storm

Why, these Tiny Fuppets are like nothing I've ever seen. It's like they always say: the fanboat is the birthplace of all great Portuguese art! Scott Gairdner has been kind enough to introduce us to cartoon master Arturo Lima and his positively unique gang of animated creatures Kormit, Gonzor, Tummi, and Animanuel. My favorite one is Ms. Woman. I bet if you got her angry, she'd hit you right between the eyes with a Jogo do Pau staff!

New Scott Gairdner to Take Over YouTube Channel From Old Scott Gairdner

Scott Gairdner doesn't have time to update his YouTube channel anymore, as he now works at Funny or Die making videos for them. But don't worry! New Scott Gairdner is here to pick up the slack and make sure his channel is full of top-notch content for the foreseeable future.

Watch Scott Gairdner Enact Jesse Eisenberg's 'Batman vs. Superman' Audition

This isn't the first time Scott Gairdner (Conan, Funny Or Die) has posed as Jesse Eisenberg for a fake audition tape, but it's certainly the most time-appropriate, as news of Eisenberg's casting as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman just leaked a few days ago. Hopefully the producers of the real movie see this and at least consider the laser hands idea.

The Tiny Fuppets Return for a Halloween Special

Conan/Funny or Die writer Scott Gairdner's web series Tiny Fuppets, a cheap Portuguese Muppet Babies knockoff, returns today with a brand new Halloween special. The special was released via the YouTube channel JASH and features a surprise ending that will blow your mind.

Shucks, It's the Arcade Game Ditty You Never Knew You Gosh-Durn Needed

Tyrus Smackey and the Scoot-Tootin' Bunch 're hotter'n a pair of wet mackerels in an Alabama noon, and this here's their latest single, "Arcade Daze." (Odds are they may've had but a lick of help from Scott Gairdner and Funny or Die.) Corral the youngin's, cook up a can o' beans, stroke yer mutton-chops and enjoy, hoss.

Chicago and Me, the Sitcom Starring the Band Chicago

Here's the latest gem from Funny or Die's Scott Gairdner: a fake 90's sitcom called Chicago and Me that features the jazz-rock band Chicago taking care of a little boy. It combines Gairdner's known penchant for pitch-perfect recreations of 80's and 90's pop culture ephemera with an amazingly ludicrous premise. Also, it features Chicago. So yeah, it's pretty great.

Adam West's Eyehole Paintings Security Systems Seem Like a Smart Choice

Eyehole Paintings with Adam West is writer/director Scott Gairdner's first video for Funny or Die since being hired there recently, and it is wonderful. While it'd be easy to just give Adam West a bunch of non sequiturs to say and have it be funny enough (I don't want to name names here, but Family Guy), this is a pretty great premise with equally great production value backing it up. Love it.

Comedy Central Orders Animated Cop Show 'Moonbeam City', Created by 'Conan's Scott Gairdner

Comedy Central just added another animated show to its slate. The network has ordered 10 episodes of Moonbeam City, an animated cop comedy created by Conan and Funny or Die writer Scott Gairdner, Deadline reports. Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Banks, Will Forte, and Kata Mara will voice characters in the comedy, which is set in the world of gritty, sex-heavy '80s cop movies.

Moonbeam City stars Rob Lowe as a dumb, good-looking undercover cop named Dazzle Novak who commits tons of crimes himself. Banks voices his boss, police chief Pizzaz Miller, and Forte voices rookie cop Rad Cunningham who's gunning for Novak. Comedy Central ordered the pilot back in April, and [...]

What It's Like to Write For a Late Night Talk Show

Comedy is an industry. For every performer on stage, there are hundreds of people working behind-the-scenes. These creative and business jobs, which exist in all disciplines and levels of comedy, collectively make up the comedy scene. In this column, we're looking a comedy jobs that are less visible than that of a performer, and talking to the people who do those jobs about what they do, how they got there, and how that job has affected their perspective on comedy.

The past year has brought a crop of new late night talk shows to television, and that means more opportunities for late night writers. One of the most sought [...]

An Interview with Scott Gairdner, Creator of Tiny Fuppets and Tons of Other Insane and Wonderful Things

Scott Gairdner, staff writer at Funny or Die and creator of the Tiny Fuppets, is one of the best comedy writers currently working on the internet. I proclaim it to be so! Today, the Huffington Post interviewed him about his work, the Tiny Fuppets and working at Funny or Die. He talked a bit about the inspiration for the Tiny Fuppets: Somebody showed me "Ratatoing," a Brazilian ripoff of "Ratatouille." It's made by this company called Video Brinquedo, which actually translates to "Toyland Video." So through that I found this YouTube rabbit hole of crazy Brazilian rip-offs of American cartoons. My favorite is "The Little Cars," a [...]

The 1982 Tron Christmas Special Is So Awesome

Scott Gairdner is quickly becoming the King of Internet Videos, if he hasn't already become said King. The newish Funny or Die writer/director's latest pièce de résistance is this, The 1982 Tron Holiday Special. Part mockery of the infamous Star Wars Christmas special, part mockery of Tron, part excuse to dress Rip Taylor up in a retro Tron suit and throw digital confetti around, it is perfect. This is how you do it, everyone else.
