Larry David and Bill Simmons Talk 'Seinfeld,' 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' and Series Finales

"I think the thing about finales is everybody writes their own finale in their head, whereas if they just tune in during the week to a normal show, they’re surprised by what's going on. They haven't written it beforehand, they don't know what the show is. But for a finale, they go, 'Oh, well this should happen to George, and Jerry and Elaine should get together,' and all that. They've already written it, and often they're disappointed, because it's not what they wrote."

Larry David looks back on the mixed response to the Seinfeld series finale and more in a new interview with Bill Simmons.

After 14 years (on and off), seven seasons, and two networks, Futurama is endings its run with one final episode tonight. Comedy Central, who revived the series in 2010, opted to cancel it in April. Tonight's final episode, entitled "Meanwhile," finds Professor Farnsworth introducing a device that can transport people back in time 10 seconds, while Fry proposes to Leela once more. And as is required by law for TV shows these days, there's a Chris Hardwick hosted aftershow and preshow online.

After eight years and nine seasons on the air, The Office now has an end date: May 16th, 2013. NBC announced today that the final episode will be an hour long and will be the show's 200th installment. While Steve Carell is not returning for the finale, departed cast members Mindy Kaling, BJ Novak, and Zach Woods are all expected to return for guest spots either on or before the finale. As far as the show's final 10 episodes go, you can expect to see more of this documentary camera crew stuff and the nixed pilot for a Dwight spin-off about his family's beet farm, which [...]

Steve Carell Explains Why Michael Scott Won't Be Back for 'The Office's Finale

Word came in via showrunner Greg Daniels and NBC boss Bob Greenbatt earlier this month that Steve Carell won't be back to play Michael Scott one last time for The Office's series finale in May, and now Carell himself weighs in on the issue. Talking to Access Hollywood, the actor explained, "I just didn't think it was right for the character. That character had an arc within the story and kind of grew and sort of evolved past the idea of the documentary." Carell did add that he's hoping to visit his former co-workers before production wraps though, saying, "I'm really good friends with everybody in [...]

'HIMYM' Series Finale Originally Included "Heart-Wrenching" Funeral Scene

HIMYM fans who are still recovering from the bombshell series finale might find some solace in an update from TV Line, in which cast member Alyson Hannigan revealed that the episode originally included a brief scene of Tracy's funeral, which also played out in the "perfect" taped table reading. "Honestly, if you saw [that] cut, it would be even more heart-wrenching than what the finale was," Hannigan said. "They were like, 'No. It’s just too gut-wrenching.' And I was like, 'That’s what I want. I want my heart ripped out and slammed on the floor and, like, stomped on!'" Series creator Carter Bays has promised a bonus [...]

'The Office' Series Finale Review: Goodbye, Dunder Mifflin

After 201 episodes of Dunder Mifflin adventures, The Office — which set the trend for dry, music-free, single-camera American mockumentary sitcoms for years to come and spawned a countless trail of recaps, spoilers, reviews, thinkpieces, and GIFs — waved its final goodbye last night. While the past two episodes "Livin' the Dream" and "A.A.R.M." felt more like caps to this season's storylines, "Finale" served as a celebration of the show that went from the struggling underdog it was back in 2005 to the powerhouse NBC Thursday night leader of nearly a decade. The episode — which included some weirdly awesome cameos by Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, Eric Wareheim, Greg [...]

Adult Swim's 'Delocated' Is Ending Its Run with a Special Series Finale Episode March 7th

Last year, Jon Glaser's witness protection comedy Delocated ended its third season in a way that made a fourth season seem uncertain. Today, Adult Swim announced that the show is ending, and they're airing a one-off special series finale episode next month. Entitled "The Frrt Identity," the finale special is a half-hour long and sees "Jon" waking up on a New York shore, suffering from amnesia. It's sad to see one of the weirdest and funniest shows on TV ending, but it looks like this finale will serve as a nice ending. The episode airs Thursday, March 7th at 12:30am, but you can check out a preview after the [...]
