In a guest editorial in SC newspaper The State, Colbert explained that he was ready to help the GOP cover the cost of the presidential primary in exchange for them to simply name it “The Colbert Super PAC South Carolina Republican Primary." Stephen Colbert announced his intentions to win a recently-vacated Senate seat in his home state of South Carolina on his show last week, and now, a new poll reveals that he's the top choice for South Carolina residents. Public Policy Polling released the poll, which says 20% of South Carolina voters support Colbert, with the states Congressmen Tim Scott and Trey Gowdy in second and third place with 15% and 14%, respectively.
