Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter Have a Podcast Together Now

Comedy duo Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter have teamed up for another project. The pair, who worked together previously on TV shows like The State, Stella, and Michael & Michael Have Issues, just debuted a new podcast this week called Topics in which they "have serious discussions about big topics of conversation that we all think about." The first two episodes — an short introductory podcast and one that sees the pair debating the existence of God — are now available, and, of course, getting serious is just another excuse for Michael and Michael to goof off and dryly joke about being serious week to week.

Watch John Vanderslice Interview the Stella Guys

Here's a really silly interview between musician John Vanderslice and Stella (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, David Wain) that serves as proof that the Stella guys should never be apart from each other.

How Stella Kicked Off the Internet Comedy Boom

Because we live in a time of comedic plenty, it’s hard to remember what life was like before the comedy boom. YouTube was only invented in 2005 and, as recently as ten years ago, a person had to do some serious digging to find something funny on the Internet — outside of some lame joke that a friend or family member forced down your throat on a chain e-mail that was most likely sent from an AOL or Hotmail account.

Some would argue that current age of online comedy began with the advent of YouTube; while others would state that Funny or Die started the trend in 2007; still [...]

12 More TV Comedies That Netflix Should Resurrect From the Dead

Funded by the collective prayers and wishes of the internet hive mind, with possibly some help from dubious business practices in Iraq1, Arrested Development will be brought back from the dead next early Sunday morning on Netflix. The critical and financial success of this unprecedented experiment in TV resurrection will decide if other shows will be able to continue to tell their stories long after a broadcast or cable network had canceled it, thereby cheating death, defying nature. To save Netflix, or Amazon Instant, or any current or future video streaming service the burden of thinking too much when they decide to play God, here are 12 comedies whose [...]

The Lost Projects of David Wain

Lost Roles is a weekly column taking a particular subject and exploring all of their movie and TV projects that came close to happening but didn’t for one reason or another. This week, we turn our attention to David Wain, whose new film Wanderlust opens tomorrow.

David Wain spent the early part of his career jumping from cult hit to cult hit as a writer, director, and actor on The State, Stella, and Wet Hot American Summer. Wain's comedies never achieved much mainstream success until he signed on to replace the original director of Role Models and rewrote the movie's script with his friends and frequent collaborators Ken [...]
