Jay Chandrasekhar Gives an Update on the 'Super Troopers' Sequel

"I'm a student of sequels and I know what they did wrong when you see them. Usually what they try to do is make them glitzier and broader and all that stuff. Our approach is not going to be that. If anything, the mustaches will be a little bigger, it'll be a little tougher maybe, but we're just going to make a second one. We're not going to dye our hair blond and spike it up or anything. This is going to be just another cop story."

- Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar on the in-the-works Super Troopers sequel in Rolling Stone's new oral history of the film.

Oh, There's Gonna Be Another Super Troopers

Today in Unwanted Sequels, the News of Which Will Delight a Few and Frustrate Many, there's going to be a Super Troopers 2. Actor and director Jay Chandrasekhar said that the Broken Lizard troupe has written the script and now has to "figure out a little sort of legal thing with Fox." What say you – was the classic original hilarious enough to warrant a sequel? Or is this another sign of our utter lack of creativity in the waning days of a dying civilization?

Talking to Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar about 'Freeloaders' and the Chevy Chase N-Word Thing

Jay Chandrasekhar made a name for himself acting in and directing movies like Super Troopers and Beerfest with his comedy team Broken Lizard, whose most recent produced project Freeloaders came out last week. In addition to his movie work and standup, though, Chandrasekhar has guest directed episodes for a handful of critically acclaimed fan-favorite TV series including Arrested Development, Undeclared, Happy Endings, and Community, where he's directed some of the series' best episodes ("Mixology Certification") and one of the most talked-about moments (Chevy Case emitting the N-word on set).

In light of Freeloaders' DVD and online release, I talked to Jay Chandrasekhar about ensemble comedies, the difference between directing [...]

Fox Buys Buddy Comedy Uncle A-Hole, Probably Plans on Changing Its Name

How I Met Your Mother co-executive producer Joe Kelly has sold Uncle A-Hole to FOX. The show's a half-hour buddy comedy about "a guy who reconnects with his sister's college drop out son." Just gonna go out on a limb and say that Fox might re-work that title. Meanwhile, NBC picked up a comedy called Kept Men from Super Troopers writers Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme. They'll probably KEEP that name (get it? Get it? Ah ha ha ha).

'Super Troopers 2' to Possibly Shoot This Year

The guys from the comedy group Broken Lizard have been talking about making a sequel to their 2001 movie Super Troopers for years now, but it looks like it's finally happening. Director Jay Chandrasekhar told the press last year that they're hoping to make the movie "eventually," but now the movie is set to potentially film in 2013. Here's star/writer Kevin Heffernan talking to Guy Speed:

"There will be a Super Troopers sequel. We put it off for a while and then came back to it. We wrote the script and handed in to Fox and now we're just negotiating the time and the place and [...]
