
What do you do when you're in the middle of promoting a movie about a selfish, egomaniacal dictator, and then a real-life selfish, egomaniacal dictator dies? In her recent New Yorker profile, Anna Faris expressed frustration with how studios always wanted her to be sexy, when she just wanted to be funny. As the female lead in Sasha Baron Cohen's upcoming The Dictator, it looks like she got her wish. Long blonde hair and short skirts look like they'll be nowhere near her character, at least based on this first shot of her from the movie.

You know that they say about a man who gigantic, fabulous epaulets. You know, that he's probably some kind of ruthless tyrant. Huffington Post has the first official image of Sacha Baron Cohen as The Dictator, and all those tassels certainly suggest so. Cohen has also been spotted shooting The Dictator in Queens recently, which means we also have a sweet stars-and-stripes track suit ensemble to look forward too. Who knew despots were such divas? Well, I guess the other way to look at it is that they're the ultimate divas. That's one for the political scientists to hash out.

Sacha Baron Cohen is prepping his third movie with director Larry Charles, who helmed both Borat and Bruno. It'll be called The Dictator, and in it Cohen will reportedly play both a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the United States. It's written by Cohen and Curb Your Enthusiasm writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel.
It's not clear if this is going to be a more straightforward scripted affair or another mockumentary like his last two. But the title and the plot make it sound like somewhat of an homage to Chaplin's classic The Great Dictator. We'll see if that's [...]
