Here's the trailer for Michael Winterbottom's sequel to The Trip called The Trip to Italy, which sees Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon venturing off to the beautiful Italian landscape to try more fancy food and deliver more Michael Caine impressions. The Trip to Italy is currently airing in miniseries form across the pond and premieres in the US on August 15th.

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon Confirm Season 2 of 'The Trip' Will Shoot in Italy

A follow-up to the 2010 UK miniseries The Trip, which was edited into a film in the States, is on the way, and Italy will be the location this time around. Word of an Italy-set sequel first came about in 2011, but the Trip stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon confirmed the news today. Coogan tells Empire"We are going to Italy. I went there three weeks ago to meet Rob and Michael to go for dinner and talk about what we were going to do."

Coogan continued, "We're supposed to be retracing the footsteps of the Romantics, of Shelley and Byron and Keats, and I don't [...]

Steve Coogan on Playing Steve Coogan, Impersonating Every Other Actor In the U.K.

As discussed in his new Slate interview, Steve Coogan has on multiple occasions, most recently in The Trip, played "Steve Coogan," an arrogant prig who the comedian reassures America is merely an exaggeration of his natural persona. "I come up as slightly too precious and pretentious, and though there's some truth to that, I'm not as po-faced and neurotic and anxious as I come across in the film," Coogan explains. "I'm a bit more laid back and don't take myself quite so seriously. So I exaggerated that." Personally, I prefer to imagine Coogan as having more in common with his roller-skating drama teacher in Hamlet 2, particularly [...]

The Long, Brilliant Career of Steve Coogan, the Funniest British Comedian Most Americans Don't Know

Although he's been a wildly popular comedian in the UK for over 20 years now, Steve Coogan has yet to become a household name in the States. Nevertheless, 2014 is may just be the year he finally breaks through here. With a bevy of high-profile projects set to make their US debuts, Coogan may finally become someone who has American fans who aren't just comedy nerds. Coogan recently earned his first two Oscar nominations for producing and co-writing the drama Philomena, which he stars in with Judi Dench, and he's starring in the comedies Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and The Trip to Italy, which are both set for a US [...]

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon to Head to Italy for a Sequel to The Trip

When you get sick of insulting your friends in your home country, the next logical step is to head to Italy and insult them there. Hey, it worked for Jersey Shore! Now it's the plan for The Trip. Michael Winterbottom's six-part series/movie featuring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon bickering throughout the north of England turned out to be something of a hit due to it being truly great, and now they're prepping a sequel that'll send the two frenemies to Italy. It'll be another series, one that may or may not be cut into a movie for American audiences like the first one was. Hell, I say [...]

The Trip: a Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Scallop

What a pleasure it is watch a movie with virtually no plot at all. Don’t get me wrong; director Michael Winterbottom’s The Trip, shown at the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend, is packed with emotion and honesty and the gradual unveiling of the characters' rich inner lives. In terms of action, however, the film depicts exactly what would happen if you and an old colleague spent a week traveling Northern England on a restaurant tour: almost nothing.

Edited together from a 2010 miniseries of the same name and combined with new footage to make a feature length film, The Trip follows the fictionalized versions of British comedic actors [...]

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's sequel to their comedy The Trip, called The Trip to Italy, was filmed last year. Here's the first clip from it, in which Coogan and Brydon revive their Michael Caine impressions and do a bunch of other Dark Knight Rises impressions. The Trip to Italy was filmed as a six-part TV series and is also edited into a movie version, like the original. There's no word on when audiences will be able to see it, but here's a funny clip at least.

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's Dueling Michael Caine Impressions

Here's a great clip from BBC Two's The Trip, a series in which Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon play heightened versions of themselves traveling around England and reviewing restaurants. In it, they fight over who has the better Michael Caine impression. They are both quite good!
