Cable network Adult Swim unveiled a roster of new shows, specials and pilots this morning. Most notable are Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland's new animated series Rick and Morty, which was announced previously and is expected to premiere sometime in 2014; Paul Scheer's high school drama parody pilot Filthy Sexy Teen$, which he co-created with NTSF:SD:SUV cohorts Jonathan Stern and Curtis Gwinn; and Tim & Eric's Bedtime Stories, a pilot for an anthology series from duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim that features Zach Galifianakis in the pilot.
See below for the full slate of programming announced today, which also includes frat guy ghosts, satanic dogs, and new specials from [...]
The new YouTube channel JASH, featuring original videos from Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim & Eric, and Reggie Watts, launched last week, and here's the trailer for a new JASH web series called Tim & Eric's Go Pro Show, which debuts April 15th and revolves around the comedy duo attaching cameras to their heads to show you what their lives are like. After years of wondering what it's like to be Tim & Eric, you'll finally get to find out.
"It gets me a little angry when people say, 'Oh, Louis C.K. It’s a new model where you pay him five dollars and he’s doing it all himself.' A lot of money was spent by big companies to get him to a place where he can do that. Time Warner and Adult Swim paid a lot of money for Eric and I to make stuff, and then they spent a lot of money promoting. People aren't coming out of nowhere and getting careers just by putting their stuff online."
-Tim Heidecker of Tim & Eric fame, talking toThe LA Timesabout Louis C.K. and how people often misinterpret [...]
The comedy podcast universe is ever expanding, not unlike the universe universe. We're here to make it a bit smaller, a bit more manageable. There are a lot of great shows and each has a lot of great episodes, so we want to highlight the exceptional, the noteworthy. Each week our crack team of podcast enthusiasts and specialists and especially enthusiastic people will pick their favorites. Also, we'll keep you posted on the offerings fromour very own podcast network. We hope to have your ears permanently plugged with the best in aural comedy.
Negative reviews are positive reviews. Up is down. Black is white. Cats are chasing dogs. Beet and goat cheese salads are ordering us. This is the The Comedy, a "comedy" that supposedly garnered a ton of walkouts at Sundance. (Something the creators were probs pumped about.) The film stars Tim & Eric and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and is about a bunch of hapless 30-somethings who are disenchanted with the universe, so they do awful shit to see how the world reacts. It will probably will be awful, which means it will be great, or it will be great, so that means awful, right? Ugh, I'm confused. Where's my [...]
Tim & Eric Week continues on the YouTube channel JASH. Yesterday, they debuted the duo's new web series Tim & Eric Go Pro, and today, they've released this video, "Tim and Gelman Have Lunch," in which comedians Tim Heidecker and Brett Gelman have lunch and a conversation together. It's in four parts. The rest are embedded below. The video is a sequel to a 2011 short that Heidecker and Gelman made (also below), so now you can watch these two weirdos have two meals together.
Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, and Reggie Watts have joined forces to form a comedy collective called JASH that will create content for a new YouTube channel, and here's the trailer for said channel. The JASH gang did a Reddit AMA and a live episode of Comedy Bang Bang yesterday from SXSW to promote the network. The first regular (non-trailer) video is set to launch April 8th. YouTube has been making a big push for original programming over the last couple years, and this is the biggest comedy move the site has made yet by pulling this group of well-known movie and TV stars together. Could [...]
Going to the movies this weekend? Then, you'll wanna check out "On Cinema at the Cinema," a new web series for Thing X hosted by Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington (whom you might know better as his hack comic character Neil Hamburger). It's a video version of their podcast On Cinema, and here's the second installment, in which they review this weekend's new movies, Lincoln and Skyfall. Watch the video and I think you'll agree with me that Heidecker & Turkington are worthy successors to Siskel & Ebert.
Beloved comedy weirdos Tim Heidecker and Jon Daly have a new podcast in which they live tweet themselves recording a podcast for a half hour, possibly with the goal of losing as many Twitter followers as possible. It's called #230PST, as that is when they record it. It's all as strange as it sounds.
"My name is Broke Ankleman," Scott Aukerman said as he came to the lip of an unadorned stage.
Roughly 95% of his body was vintage Aukerman: sensible sweater, Oxford shirt, well-ironed khakis, comfortable sneakers, and lightly tousled hair with just a hint of product. But at the bottom of his left leg was a massive black boot, one he bore due to an injury suffered early on in his "Comedy Bang! Bang! LIVE!" tour, weeks before it came to Manhattan's Highline Ballroom last night.
His recounting of the incident was also vintage Aukerman. "I was literally just walking on stage — Walking! Walking on stage! — and I sprained my [...]
Since Awesome Show, Great Job! ended, Tim Heidecker has stayed pretty busy, usually working on a few shows, movies, podcasts, or movie projects at a time. Most recently he's co-founded JASH and returned to making funny stuff with Eric Wareheim for the new video network. Last year he starred in Rick Alverson's film The Comedy — out on DVD today — which is not really a comedy but more of a drama about Heidecker's character being upset and doing nothing in Brooklyn. It's cool seeing Heidecker as a sad, serious type of guy. Also, Eric Wareheim does show up for a while, as does LCD Soundsystem's James [...]
Here's "Running Out the Clock," a fake Bob Dylan song that Tim Heidecker of Tim & Eric fame released in advance of Bob Dylan's fake performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, which is not a real thing that will happen this Sunday. I would actually watch the Super Bowl halftime show this year, though, if Tim Heidecker was planning on charging the stage and grabbing the mic from Beyonce so he could sing this song as Bob Dylan.
Noted cinema buff Tim Heidecker (of Tim & Eric fame) did an interview with The A.V. Club today where he ran through his favorite movies, programming a (fictitious) 24-hour film festival. Amongst Heidecker's favorites are Spinal Tap, Lost in America, Dogtooth, and The King of Comedy, proving that his love for funny, uncomfortable movies runs deep.
Here’s the new trailer for The Comedy, which, despite its title (and the fact that it stars Adult Swim duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim) is a dramatic film. To make things more confusing, it’s a drama about comedy. The movie stars Heidecker as Williamsburg hipster and explores him and his friends’ love for sarcasm and irony and how hollow their lives are as a result of it. Co-written by its director Rick Alverson, The Comedy stars Wareheim, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, and Gregg Turkington (a.k.a Neil Hamburger) as Heidecker’s friends. The movie will be released on VOD and iTunes on October 24th and in limited release in theaters on [...]
