Jeff Goldblum Stars in the Best Lightbulb Infomercial Ever Directed by Tim and Eric

It's not often that a mega corporation like GE can pull off an ad that's funnier than it is shameless, but this new spot directed by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim has got to be the most worthwhile lightbulb commercial ever made. Tim Heidecker Says 'Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories' Is a Reflection of Our "Shit Culture"

"Once we started making the show, and we saw what we were actually doing, I sort of thought, Well, this show is not going to make you feel good. And we shouldn’t be feeling good! We’re shit people. We’re a shit culture. This is like punishment for being horrible. There’s so much feel-good stuff that comes out, especially in comedy now, where things are very cute and very clever and sort of like everybody’s in on the joke and winking. I feel like our show tends to try to be like a little more reminding of how awful things really are in the world."

Turkington and Heidecker wrote the script together, which follows a failing, aging standup known only as "The Comedian" (Turkington), performing a string of awful gigs in the Southwest on his way to meet his estranged daughter.

"I was driving down Sunset and right in that shit world of all those Gucci ads and billboards, there's this huge thing for Review and then a block later there’s a huge ad for Steve Brule. It's our little stamp on Hollywood. We're the little company that could … and we're doing it. That’s a really wonderful feeling. In terms of what to do next, we almost can't catch up with what we have now. We're just like, 'Let’s keep doing this.'"
