TV Land Orders 'The Gaffigan Show' to Series

Despite not getting picked up by CBS in May, Jim Gaffigan's new show has finally found a home. Deadline reports that TV Land has ordered 10 episodes of The Gaffigan Show, which centers on Gaffigan's life as a standup and father "who struggles with an insatiable appetite" and is co-created by Gaffigan and Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) and also stars Ashley Williams, Adam Goldberg, and Michael Ian Black. While no premiere date has been announced yet, The Gaffigan Show will debut sometime next year, and Comedy Central will be airing episodes a week after they originally air on TV Land.

There Will Be a Big 'Mary Tyler Moore' Reunion on 'Hot in Cleveland'

Deadline reports that an upcoming episode of TV Land's Hot in Cleveland will feature a big reunion of The Mary Tyler Moore Show's entire female cast. Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman, and Mary Tyler Moore will be guest starring in the episode, appearing alongside Hot in Cleveland star Betty White and Georgia Engel, who has a recurring role on the show. The episode will follow White and Engel's characters putting their bowling team together, with Moore, Harper, and Leachman playing their former team members who had a falling out years ago. Jim Gaffigan in Talks to Turn His CBS Pilot Into a Series at TV Land

In May, CBS passed on ordering comedian Jim Gaffigan's family sitcom pilot Gaffigan to series, but it looks like the show may be finding new life on another network. Deadline reports that TV Land has been in talks with Sony TV, the studio that produced the pilot, for the last month or so and that TV Land is "well down the road of trying to make the show work there." Deadline says TV Land is trying to get the actors' rates down for a lower budget.

TV Land Orders Kirstie Alley and Michael Richards's New Sitcom

Continuing its practice of cramming retro sitcom stars into new shows, TV Land has ordered a new series called Kirstie's New Show that will star Kirstie Alley, Rhea Perlman, and Michael Richards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network has ordered a 12-episode first season that will debut in the fall. The sitcom, which was ordered to pilot last fall, stars Alley as Broadway star Madison Banks as her long lost son (Eric Petersen) comes back into her life. 'Key & Peele' Bosses Ian Roberts and Jay Martel to Showrun Alison Brie's TV Land Pilot

Ian Roberts and Jay Martel, who have been showrunners on Comedy Central's Key & Peele since the show began, and now they're looking to do that same job on another comedy. Deadline reports that Roberts and Martel have been hired as showrunners on Teachers, a TV Land comedy pilot executive produced by Alison Brie. The pilot is based on the web series of the same name, following an eccentric group of elementary school teachers. The show, like the web series, stars the iO Chicago-based sketch/improv group The Katydids (made up of Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas).

Michael Richards Is Returning to Acting for Kirstie Alley's TV Land Pilot

It's been over a decade since Michael Richards's last regular TV gig (on his short-live NBC vehicle The Michael Richards Show), but he's returning to acting to co-star with Kirstie Alley in her new TV Land pilot Giant Baby, Deadline reports. In the show, Kirstie Alley plays a Broadway star dealing with her long-lost son (Eric Petersen) coming back into her life. Alley's former Cheers costar Rhea Perlman will play her assistant and best friend, while Michael Richards will be her limo driver. It's great to see Richards returning to the spotlight after spending so much time away. He was funny in an arc as himself on Curb [...]
