Jay Pharoah Brings His Jay-Z, Drake, and Kanye West Impersonations to the VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards aired last night, and the closest thing to a host was SNL's Jay Pharoah, who made several appearances during the show disguised as some of his best impersonations. Above watch him bring back his Kanye impression while Kim Kardashian watches from an awkwardly close distance, then click through to watch his segments as Jay-Z and Drake.

Video: Eric Andre Wants to Be Your MTV VMA Host

Comedian Eric Andre (Don't Trust the B, Adult Swim's The Eric Andre Show) released this video today via the YouTube channel JASH. It's his audition to be host of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (or the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, as he jokes in the video), and you can use the hashtag #Andre4hostVMA13 to support the cause. It would lead to the most unpredictable VMAs ever, if this video, his Adult Swim series, and his captivating appearance on Attack of the Show! last year are any indication.

Looks like I'll be introducing @kanyewest Sunday at the MTV VMAs. I missed last years show, hope there's nothing I need to know.less than a minute ago via EchofonAziz Ansariazizansari

This should create a delightful juxtaposition of Aziz making fun of Kanye followed by Kanye taking himself way too seriously.

'SNL' Review: No Escape from Miley Cyrus

After Justin Bieber hosted SNL last season, I concluded that SNL will never quite be the alternative comedy show we'd like it to be. There's no denying the show would be much funnier if producers only booked the heroes of comedy nerds to host the show, as it did last season with Louis CK and last week with Tina Fey. I've made the case several times that the show would be far better if only former cast members hosted — indeed, SNL has enough star alumni to fill a few seasons' worth of episodes.

But SNL isn't that show. The ongoing inclusion of performances by a musical guest [...]

Kevin Hart Joins Green Day and It Goes Exactly as Well as that Sounds

Get More: 2012 VMA, Music, Green Day

First, I don't think Kevin Hart knows how to play the tuba. Though, the two notes he did play were oddly in tune, so maybe Green Day just didn't get his art. Second, isn't it funny that Green Day is still a thing? It's been awhile, shouldn't they've been named Green Two Decades? Green Century? Or maybe just Green, a name unencumbered by time?

The Complete Guide to Everything: Magicians

This week we talk about how Tom's not going to the VMAs while Tim proposes a number of Robin Thicke / Alan Thicke Mash-ups. There's also discussion regarding the current lack of magic shops and spy shops getting muscled out. Tim tells a story about the time Penn and Teller were used as a ruse to watch the Playboy Channel, and the time Tim and Tom went to go  see David Blane buried alive. The magic talk wraps up with a remembrance for The Masked Magician who revealed all the magician's secrets on Fox, before finally leading up to what everyone's come here for: Tom's thoughts on Ben Affleck [...]

Jimmy Fallon Isn't Hosting the Oscars – Kevin Hart is Hosting the VMAs

Get More: Kim Kardashian, Kevin Hart, 2012 VMA, Music, Kanye West

After ostensibly hosting MTV's Video Music Awards last year, though without the title of host, Kevin Hart is officially going to be the host this year. It's a small difference but one that does reflect an ascension of sorts. Conversely, despite his ascension, Fallon officially will not be hosting the Oscars. (Lorne Michaels still might produce, which might open hosting duties up [...]
