Wanda Sykes and Seth Meyers Talk This Year's Invite-Only 'Last Comic Standing'

Comedian and producer of this year's revamped Last Comic Standing Wanda Sykes paid a visit to the Late Night desk last night, and she did a pretty great job explaining why the show is invite-only and does not use a viewer voting system like some other shows: "I don't trust America…America's gonna screw it up!"

JB Smoove Is Hosting the New Season of 'Last Comic Standing', Premieres May 22nd

Last year, NBC announced they're resurrecting the standup comedy reality show Last Comic Standing after four years with Wanda Sykes producing, and now the reboot has a new host, new judges, and a premiere date. The network announced today that JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Millers) will be the host for the upcoming 13-episode eighth season, which will premiere on Thursday, May 22nd, at 10pm. Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Russell Peters will serve as judges. Keenen Ivory Wayans's presence is interesting as TBS is gearing up to host a comedy competition show called Funniest Wins hosted and produced by his brother Marlon.

11 Shows That Went Head-to-Head With 'SNL' and Lost

Saturday Night Live is an institution that has been considered overrated and underrated since its debut in 1975, always provoking debate, always somewhere on the minds of everyone in the comedy world, and subsequently and most importantly of all, always watched and analyzed every single week. And it seems that from the very beginning, everybody that wasn't NBC knew that they were screwed, and have continually opted to not counter with their own original programming. Fox seems to be the one network that refuses to admit defeat, throwing up their own comedy shows on Saturday nights since 1989, and returning to the weekend late night original programming game with [...]

NBC Is Reviving 'Last Comic Standing' Again, Produced by Wanda Sykes

NBC is bringing Last Comic Standing back yet again. The network will be producing a new season of the standup comedy competition series set to air during the summer of 2014 and to be executive produced by Wanda Sykes, THR reports. This will be the eighth season of the show. A host has not yet been named. The last season aired in 2010.

Since it started its run in 2003, Last Comic Standing has only aired during the summer and has given exposure to comedians like Amy Schumer, Doug Benson, James Adomian, Gabriel Iglesias, and Todd Glass, all of whom competed at earlier points in their careers.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Recap: "Car Periscope"

This week's Curb sees Larry trying to better himself in more ways than one — working with a personal trainer (30 Rock's Cheyenne Jackson) to better his physical health and possibly deepening his pockets through an investment opportunity from a forward-thinking inventor. The invention in question is the titular “car periscope,” a device that’s too wacky to actually exist but seems like it could be practical in the real world. In all fairness, the car periscope did look like a lot of fun. If Larry, Jeff, and Susie’s extreme excitement over the periscope are any indication of the real life enjoyment one would feel while using one, then I’d [...]
