The Complete Guide to Everything: The Movies of 2012

This week Tim has had enough of Christmas and would like you all to stop even though Christmas ended nearly a week ago. Also Tom becomes a member of a museum and feels pretty smug about it. In this episode the guys discuss the movies of 2012, including Sleepwalk with Me, Moonrise Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Underworld, Red Tails, Chronicle, Ghost Rider, Wanderlust, A Thousand Words, 21 Jump Street, The Hunger Games, Cabin in the Woods, Dark Shadows, The Dictator, Battleship, Men in Black 3 and Life of Pi.

It is important to note that neither Tim nor Tom have seen the majority of the [...]

Kathryn Hahn Has So Much To Say About Joe Lo Truglio's Penis

There are some amazing shots of this particular penis. A really amazing one through car windows, squatting down, just the nuts, it’s pretty amazing. Sometimes the head just kind of enters the frame. It is definitely a character in the film.

And that's just the tip (heh) of Kathryn Hahn's opinions about Joe Lo Truglio's penis in Wanderlust. Fine, okay, that's pretty much all she says about it. Comedy cliques and why she always ends up working with Paul Rudd are interesting topics too, I GUESS. Just not quite as interesting as Joe Lo T's tinkle-tubule.

Wanderlust Trailer Plays Like a Beautiful Wet Hot/State Reunion

The trailer for Wanderlust is out and it features (in addition to stars Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston) Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenny-Silver, Kathryn Hahn, Justin Theroux and Alan Alda, all of them directed by David Wain. The whole thing looks kind of like a hippie-er version of Wet Hot American Summer, but co-produced by Judd Apatow. Who else watched this and now wants to immediately move to a commune with me?

Review Roundup: Wanderlust is "A Shambling Mix" of Hits and Misses

The reviews for the David Wain-directed, Paul Rudd-starring Wanderlust are here, and they're…disappointing. The story of two type-A New Yorkers learning to live in a hippie commune has a 55% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and most reviewers seem to feel that it's too heavy on improv and light on humor.

"Most of the funniest bits of this film already are in the commercials and the trailer," complains Marshall Fine of the Huffington Post. "[F]or every few jokes that hit…one sputters and dies," agrees the New York Times' Manohla Dargis. Roger Moore of the Chicago Tribune railed against the film as "a random, tedious and [...]

David Wain and the Comedy Summer Camp Fantasy Behind Wanderlust

There's a lot of interesting stuff in this piece on David Wain — his movement between the mainstream and the esoteric, for one — but one especially interesting thread is the description of how his real-life stress gave him the idea for Wanderlust:

“You always fantasize about: Could I just pick up and completely do something else?” Mr. Wain said. “Who says you have to go to a job, and who says you have to earn money? Who says you have to have a bathroom with a door? All these things are societal assumptions, and how far can you go with that?”

Ken Marino on Party Down, Reunions Of All Kinds and His Denim Short Shorts

The Party Down reunion on Childrens Hospital airs tonight, and Ken Marino is already looking back on the laughter and the tears. "It was bittersweet because all of us who worked on Party Down know how special and wonderful that was, and we still are a little sad that it didn’t go any further," he tells Vulture. "So it was kind of cool to see everybody back in their uniforms and doing their parts, but then it was sad because it’s a short little piece that we did on an eleven-minute show. When it ended, we were all like, 'Goddamn it.'"

While Marino didn't have an update, [...]

David Wain's Reddit AMA Already Yielding Wet Hot Sequel Confirmations

David Wain's answering questions on Reddit right now. Re: Wet Hot American Summer, and I quote, "We are working on the sequel (me and Michael Showalter). Original cast will return. Storyline is secret!" Huzzah!

The Red Band Trailer for Wanderlust is Heavy on the "Lust"

The red band Wanderlust trailer is out, now with 100% more Joe Lo Truglio butt, goat-milking ejaculation analogies, and Paul Rudd giving himself a sex pep talk in the mirror. Whew. That's a lotta red band material. Hope they left some surprises for next Friday when the full movie comes out in theaters. Until then, let's all drink some strong tea with hallucinogenic properties and sit by the fire to wait.
