Talking to Howard Kremer About 'Who Charted?,' 'Beavis and Butt-head,' and His New Album

Over the past two years, Who Charted? has evolved into not only one of the most fun and entertaining shows on the Earwolf Network but one of the most fun and entertaining shows in the entire world of podcasting. The key to the show's success is the fast and funny chemistry between co-hosts Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack and the way they smoothly integrate their guests into their show's weird world. In addition to his Earwolf show, Howard Kremer has his hand in a wide variety of projects, including writing for TV,  doing stand-up, recording special one-off podcasts like Earwolf's Analyze Fish, and rapping. Kremer recently released [...]

Kulap to Come Between Max and Penny on 'Happy Endings'

Adam Pally and Casey Wilson told Zap2It that Max is not going to respond well to Penny getting a boyfriend later in the season, so he finds himself a replacement. Who Charted? host Kulap Vilaysack is that replacement. Pally explained: "Her name is Nicole, but Max pronounces it 'Nickel' because it's five times as much as Penny…She turns out to be crazy." There is a reason why Howard calls her Ku-Ku, like cuckoo.

Last Sunday night, I bet the happiest person in California was Bijou Phillips, who was spoon-fed the perfect theme song for her new podcast about going to the zoo. In a week or two, expect “Zoo Bijou Bijou” to start reverberating in your Dr. Andre “Dre” Young prescribed headphones, before Ms. Philips starts her thirty minutes of riffing on elephants (“What’s the deal with elephants? They’re never supposed to forget but they always smell like they forgot to shower!”). Guys, I’m just kidding like Jason (miss u, Nelly) but remember three days ago when jokes about that song from Mad Men were the only jokes anyone was able to [...]

What's everyone's plan for Memorial Day? Wearing white? Watching Men In Black? It's a black and white weekend. Here's an idea: bring a couple podcasts with ya. I'm aware I'm talking about podcasts like they're lawn chairs but in a way aren't podcasts just like lawn chairs for our ears? In that they… are a recreational object, usually used outside one's home and are good for sitting back and relaxing. Nailed it! (No I didn't.) Enjoy this week's picks and your Memorial Day, please.

This very column started nine months ago with these immortal words by Mr. Joe Berkowitz: “Every week, it seems, the known galaxy of headphone-hilarity expands further, taking up even more storage space on iPhones the world over. In fact, it’s entirely possible that while you were reading that last sentence, Dana Gould conceived of and began recording a show of his own.” The timeline was a bit off but like a human baby, nine months later, Dana Gould has started a podcast. Was Joe the butterfly wing flap whose winds set in motion what became The Dana Gould Show? Maybe! It can be argued (and it will be, [...]

This Week in Comedy Podcasts

Good news: April showers bring May podcasts. Or something about podcasts going in your ears like lambs, because they are soft and nice, and out of your ears like lions, because if you stop listening to podcasts, your dad will be killed by stampeding wildebeasts. Well, now I'm sad remembering that scene – thanks, previous sentence. You know what makes me happy, though? Podcasts! Here are our picks for this week's best:

So you decided to pick “go to the gym” as your resolution for the fifth time in a row despite the fact that you failed to follow through every other year? Apparently, it takes about 365 days to forget how bad the music is at gyms. Now you spend your mornings all like, “Does Staind have a new album out? Is this Avenge Sevenfold covering Candlebox?” Is this Seether? Is that even a real band or did I make it up? Seether? Sither? Hinder? Heether? Seether?” or “Is this Ke$ha remixing a Ke$ha song? Who didn’t teach Avril Lavinge how to play trumpet and then made her play the [...]
