Lady Gaga Offered $3.9 Mil to Do Comedy for the First Time in 'Zoolander 2'

It's been 11 years since the release of Zoolander, and Ben Stiller and Company are still pressing ahead with plans to make a sequel. The latest news is that pop star Lady Gaga has been offered £3 million (or $3.9 million in American) to make her comedic debut as Derek Zoolander's love interest, according to the Telegraph. The sequel, to be written and directed by Stiller's Tropic Thunder cohort Justin Theroux, is targeted for a 2014 release. Zoolander 2 May Actually Be an, uh, Animated Web Series

So it was reported last week that Zoolander 2 was in the works, but Ben Stiller just announced that he's working on a Zoolander animated web series. Buh?

“It’s just a way to say, ‘Hey, let’s go do a couple of little five-minute episodes,’” Mr. Stiller said, “as opposed to saying, ‘Hey, let’s pitch it to the studio and then let’s have a fight over the budget for six months.’”

Ben Stiller Drops First Plot Hints for Zoolander 2

Here's Ben Stiller on the actually-happening Zoolander 2: "It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later — though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way."

Zoolander 2 Is Coming in 2012

Apparently, a Zoolander sequel is in the works, with a script already pretty far complete and a release date set for 2012. Jonah Hill and Will Ferrell have been written in to join Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller, who's characters are "in a pretty bad place. They're about to ring 40's bell. They have to claw their way back into the fashion industry in some way or another."

OK, first there were reports of a Zoolander sequel being written by Justin Theroux. Then Ben Stiller said he was going to make animated Zoolander web shorts in lieu of a sequel. And now Paramount has said that it's planning to have a real-deal Zoolander 2 movie out in 2012. Whatever, guys, just figure your shit out and get back to us.
