19 Comedy Podcasts That Should Already Exist

Not that we’re exactly hurting for decent podcasts at this point, but if comedians are going to keep launching them all the time, well, we have a few requests. Being that this is a democracy and all, these suggestions should be considered with utmost sincerity. If you agree that these very reasonable requests should be honored, make your voice heard by bombarding the would-be hosts with tweets and emails until they relent and give us the free entertainment we so always deserve. This Week in Comedy Podcasts

This week saw the announcement of the shows competing in The Earwolf Challenge, the first reality podcast, in which 10 lesser-known comedy podcasts (one of which we’ve honorably mentioned before) compete to see who gets to join the AMC (sans The Killing) of comedy podcast networks, Earwolf. Add the fact that Chris Hardwick announced that Todd Glass, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rikki “Garfunkel” Lindhome all have shows soon to be released on Nerdist Industries, and it has been a big week for comedy podcasts. New podcasts with tons of potential are coming out so quickly that it feels like it was years ago we were talking about that hot new show How Was Your Week? when in actuality it was only four months. On the plus side we’ve been forced to do an extra 30 minutes on the elliptical each day to listen to them all. Who said podcasts can’t help your beach body? (No one has ever said that.) This week’s list features only three shows that are over a year old, which shows just how wide open the landscape is. READ MORE

This Week in Comedy Podcasts

The cool thing about this week’s crop of podcasts is that they were all recorded before the verdict in the Casey Anthony case had been verdicated. (I’m almost positive that this is a word.) At this point, when the outcome of this trial has dominated the news cycle for several days in a row and people are starting to run out of jokes about it on Twitter and Facebook, you may potentially be starting to get sick of thinking about this girl and the terrible thing she apparently did not do. To make matters worse, Kevin James’ Zookeeper doesn’t even come out for another day! There are other ways to distract yourself from the media barrage, of course, and they all involve podcasts. This Week in Comedy Podcasts

Around this time of year (roughly 4PM-ish on June 30th) people tend to get super-psyched about their upcoming Independence Day weekend plans. “Why isn’t it goddamn Independence Day weekend yet?” and “I hate how time works!” are but two of the many things people are saying in offices across America right now. If that doesn’t make you simultaneously feel patriotic and nervous, then, well, clearly you’ve lost touch with the ideals of our forefathers. There’s a chance that I may have lost track of where I’m going with this.
