On The Rise and Fall and Fall and Fall of Hipster Bashing

I am majorly sick of hipster backlash, mostly because the definition of what a hipster even is has become confused (or, more likely, was never clear in the first place.) The monicker of 'hipster' is applied to others as a pejorative based most often on their interests as opposed to their characters or identities, and I feel that certain activities have been oddly stigmatized as a result. I agree that Portlandia is a good antidote - if we are going to laugh at so-called 'hipsters,' let's laugh at the quirky things a person does instead of invoking a nebulous stereotype to function as its own punchline.
