On The Final Matchup in the Best Sitcom Episode Ever Tournament Has Been Decided
I have loved The Simpsons since the Tracey Ullman days and I love them so much I get enraged by the "it's not as good as it was in [insert some bullshit date here]" rigamarole. But Community is on a whole new level. Community: Remedial Chaos Theory.

On Kicking Off the Best Sitcom Episode Ever Tournament: I Love Lucy vs. The Honeymooners and The Simpsons vs. Seinfeld
@Adam Frucci I think you are generally right but there were some great things done in the 70s/early 80s (Soap, Mary Hartman, Fernwood2Nite) but since the Office there has been a real flourishing in a short time, Office (not entirely fair to include the UK, if the Office why not Brass Eye, Inbetweeners, Alan Partridge?), Office US, 30 Rock, AD, Curb, Community, Party On, Parks and Rec, Philadelphia, Venture Bros, Children's Hospital... This is a great time we live in.

On Looking for the Role of Comic Novels in the Comedy World
It was a great day for me when I realized many if not most of my favorite works of serious literature were also very funny. Moby Dick actually has several very funny comic relief chapters. And that's why Melville's so much better than Henry James. Nabokov is basically all laughs. Everybody from Czechoslovakia (Hasek, Skvorecky, Kundera, etc.) is a master of blending comedy and despair. Waugh, obviously, but also early Huxley. Pynchon, Gaddis, both hilarious. You have to dig a little deeper with Dostoevsky and Sebald but it's there. Bolano is straight up LOL. And need I even mention Shteyngart? Why isn't he on your team?

On Hands Up, Who Likes Me?: The Bad Education of Look Around You
It is a great theme song! The man knows from whom to borrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MDCbIhTa_w I was watching the BBC show on 60 Years of Science tv (narrated by Robert Webb) last night and I was very disappointed that they didn't say anything about this. They did have a nice Fry and Laurie do Open University bit but Look Around You really deserved a good half hour.

On A Look Back at the 1987 Crystal Light National Aerobic Championship with Host Alan Thicke
There is a beautiful Canadian equanimity to this man's attitude. We should all be more like Thicke.
